This thread is spun-off from the
Website errors thread, where errors of fact on webpages should be reported.
This thread concerns errors in Instant Watch movie streams.
flash from Herbivore:
There is no longer a link on "contact us" for Netflix for Movie Information corrections.
Netflix Research team already work closely with the Content Team to locate and correct content issues.
For any customers who were used to submitting information through the Movie Information Corrections link, they can call customer service so a CS representative can fill out a request to get the issue or title reviewed.
With some 10,000 streaming titles, each provided in 4 bandwidths, there will be a few glitches.
Up to now, these have been included in the "Netflix Website Errors" thread. Howver, streaming errors are different in kind and interest; they also need fixing from different folks at Netflix, so I thought it best to compile these errors to a separate thread.
Reported so far:
Putney Swope was being streamed with the director's commentary instead of the soundtrack. It has been removed from Instant Watch.
Mystery of the Nile:IMAX was missing its narration. This has been fixed.
Charlie Kaufman's
Mother's Day is also provided with the Director's Comnmentary track, not the film soundtrack. This, too has been removed from Instant Watch,
100 Women,
Naked Gun 33 1/3, and
Eddie Murphy:Raw, all have been reported with issues where the stream goes into a cycle of repeated rebuffering. So far, I've only confirmed the issue on the first two. (On 100 Women, the problem occurs during the film's last 10 minutes; Naked Gun 3 messes up when the opening titles appear) With these films, not all of the streams are affected, and forcing acceptance of a lower bandwidth stream works around the issue. Similarly, the film
Bullet Boy had no dialog in at least two of its streams, but this has been corrected,
Whrn running into a snag of this sort, those of you with the Netflix Player can try alternate streams through a hidden menu, reached with the following keypresses, at half-second intervals:
HOME 5 times
SCAN BACK (bottom row left) 3 times
SCAN FORWARD (bottom row right) 2 times
If you know of an impaired stream, please report it here, and if one or more of the other streams works properly, report that if you can as well.
If you care about these issues please post here indicating which of these issues most directly concern you. There's no reason for Netflix to lift a finger if I'm the only one who cares.
If Netflix has no quality assurance process in place for IW, or realizes that their current QA process is inadequate, I'd like to point out that I am currently subsisting on SSI disability checks -- I'd be a cheap hire for a telecommuting job.
