Ok, I'm in ranting mode. WHY do people rent a film that clearly states why it's rated what it's rated, and then instead of REVIEWING the film, say how inappropriate they found it? I found a comment on a Lewis Black disc that my husband rented about how the comic used vulgar language. UH, yeah. Weren't you familiar with Lewis Black before you rented his DVD? If people can't handle the material then WHY are they members of NF? Maybe they should just sit home and stare at the ceiling. It's called life, people. Get on with it.

"A PG, pedophilia porno!" Ma'am, please report to Texas.

Funny how many of them that were pissed about language and a fleeting boob shot just LOVED the jive talking.

Golly!

Well, only because Mrs. Cleaver was talking the jive. I was more offened that the boob shots were fleeting.

Wait, WHAT?

I swear, some people should be hung. And not in a good way.

What is jive talking? I'm only 17 and have never seen this film.

Jive talking is what Shaft did. It was basically 70's urban slang mostly used by blacks. The joke in the movie is that the woman who played Beaver Cleaver's mom (aka the whitest woman ever) was the only one who could speak to them. Here's the clip:

quote: I rented this movie because I remember it as a classic goofy comedy. It wasn't as funny as I remember. A lot of the jokes are unneccessarily crude and vulgar. And it is VERY dated. Seventies fashions, smoking at the airport and on the plane, etc. Also many of the jokes aren't that funny in a post 9/11 world. Good for adolescents, not so good for adults.

Obviously written by someone who needs to get back on the pipe. God forbid we should let our children view cigarette smoking or '70s fashions! They are not funny in the post 9/11 world.

I had to stop right there. I've never known those things to be unnecessary.

Though, in that reviewer's mind, I think your avatar is the root cause of everything wrong in America.

**raises glass to vulgarity**

MovieGirl -- I was quoting somebody else's review. Please, please do not confuse me with one of those who thinks all humor should stop "in the terror era." (And don't make me live in Texas!)
