I am about 2/3 thru AM.Gangster and very underwhelmed.
Especially after watching like all 4 seasons of the Wire and 5 of the shield over the last month...this seems slow and overdone. The strike force tactics are not new or interesting or even beliveable considering Crowe sems to be doing all of the real work all by himself in an incredible short period of time. It seems to be leading to a very predictable place and the fact i could turn it off to finish tomorrow indicates that it did not "grab" me the way a much better film would have. I'm not dyiing to know how it ends because i believe i know how it ends.

the elements of every drug/cop movie have been cannibalised and dropped here. Blow... frank insists on paying his Asian supply route double the quoted cost. and on and on.

Oh my, I must be tired and grumpy. it's not terrible.
It's just not great which must be why it sailed through the theaters unnoticed by many.
Do you realize this is a true story?
I did not..until I finished the film. Still didn't like it.
American Gangster was really disappointing, I agree.

I gave it 3 stars almost solely for the brilliant cinematography of Harris Savides (who also lit Fincher's uber-sublime Zodiac)
I just watched 'Love in the Time of Cholera' which is bad, bad, bad movie. The novel by Garcia Marquez is awesome, but this movie is just plain bad.

I have also watched 'Jab We Met', a Bollywood flick. There is nothing special about it, but I liked it. It is a nice love story with a happy ending.
Oh man, I may have to watch this now, just because the book is referenced so often in Serendipity...lol.
The book is GREAT :-)
This evening I watched Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 3 Fire. I personally find this animated series delightful. I watch it with my neice and nephews.

After they went home I saw Cut Sleeve Boys. I found myself enjoying this campy drama from director Ray Yeung

This might be the most ambitious (and IMO, for the most part 'successful' )
American movie of 2007.
This film is a bold experiment that largely went over my head. Still I'm glad I watched. Really enjoyed Cate Blanchette, who "becomes" Bob Dylan, conveying the heart and soul of him, IMO. It was also a treat to see Heath Ledger again.
I have yet to see this but I think its a travesty that NF doesn't stock Safe...Todd Haynes best movie IMO.

Put it in your saved queue, folks!
Yeah, I agree... "Safe" is a great movie !
