Sex And The City vs. Star Trek

With motion pictures pending for each iconic fracchise, it struck me that some discussion of "Star Trek" and "Sex and the City" was in order. Dare we compare? I do! You can read my analysis in the first few messages of this discussion.

It was a really well written show even though it was girlier than a teenage slumber party (without the massacre). As a writer, I have to give credit to the writers of SATC. And I never got the whole Star Trek phenomena.

As for comparing the two, you can't. Apples and oranges. Although, they both have human actors playing parts in front of a camera.; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by insideroom on June 4, 2008 at 1:00pm: Star Trek is pretty good to me sometimes but only the "Next Generation" cast. All the other versions were fake and poorly acted. As for SATC I've never watched enough of it to have an opinion.

Parker angry after being tricked into wearing old dress It's about how Sarah Jessica Parker wore a used dress to the movie premiere of SATC. At first I thought this must be one of those Onion.com news stories. It seemed so hilarious and crazy. Am I missing something about this story? I mean as rich as these people are you'd think they could find a place to buy clothes that didn't treat them like they were at Goodwill or a yard sale or something. Was the dress even washed after the other two got done with it and it was given to Parker? We may never know.; ▶ Reply to This

I was flipping through the "news" site the other day, and I think it was MSNBC had a photo op of SJP and that dress, plus several OTHER women who wore it, one of which was LIndsay Lohan. Ha ha. I mean honestly do they shop at Goodwill like me? If they do she should of known somebody else wore it before and not thrown a fit. If she shops at a "new clothes" store then why are they selling used stuff? Maybe she has somebody shop for her to avoid the paparazzi and they have been ripping her off by buying used clothes. Then they either get to keep it or give it back and the designer puts it on display or it goes to a wax museum or whatever. In all seriousness, she wore a dress that looked like someone else's or even was the exact dress someone else wore. Who gives a giant rat's ass?!

Designer clothes that are generally horrendous to look at to start with, weighing 85 lbs. and having your shoulder blades look like they are going to slice through the skin, yet with enormous breasts courtesy of the hot new surgeon along with fake noses, chins, giant lollipop heads...they should all be mown down. I hate these vapid, stupid whores whose lives revolve around shoes with a passion only slightly below that reserved for most politicians.; ▶ Reply to This
