A Netflix Community

Ok, Family Guy lovers - let's share. I just love this show. It's taught me so many life lessons and opened my eyes to the world. For instance, it's hard to think that I used to be naive to the fact that...

Candy is made out of sunshine and farts.

Dinosaurs died out because Peter touched himself at night.

Sea World tends to ban those who discover what a whale's blow-hole is not for.

A hooker's vision is based on movement, so they can't see you if you stand still.

Tuna salad is mayo and cat food.

Any others out there who love this show and have learned some great things? Please share...

I love Journey especially when it is sung by amateurs in a bar.

Family also teaches us that they are no where near as funny as the beloved Simpson clan.

Most profound lesson mentioned so far.

once upon a time i probably would have agreed that the simpsons were funnier, but FG's blatant insults to our society/politics/culture appeal more to my sense of humor now. so i guess i didn't pick up on this lesson yet...

i do love the simpsons, just for slightly different reasons.

The Simpsons aren't nearly as funny as they used to be. They seem to be running out of good ideas. I think it's high time they cancel the show, but still run it in syndication. Then they can keep the Simpsons alive with more Simpson's movies.

i admit i haven't watched the show in awhile, but i used to be a loyal simpsons fan. they broke ground for FG and others like american dad (not particularly into that one).

they are (or maybe i should say 'were' since i don't watch them anymore?) funny and their messages are 'in-your-face' as well, but they are slightly milder due to the fact that they are targeted for old and young alike, where FG is clearly not for younger audiences.

i find the simpsons loveable, and i think the writers of that show have devoted more time getting the audience into liking the characters in spite of their many 'flaws' (also could be read as 'features that many of us relate to'). FG, however, doesn't care if you like them, doesn't care if you're watching, and frankly would rather have you out of their house.

I would probably say FG>Simpson's>American Dad. I do watch all three I don't think the Simpson's have completely lost it, yeah they may do some things repeatedly but they are the longest running American sitcom they are bound to feel a touch stale now and again. I was thrilled though that the movie was as fresh and fun as ever. I know there are people that won't agree but I laughed harder than I have in a long time, had to pause the movie to finish laughing so I didn't miss things. I would have to say the same for Stewie's movie, although it felt more like several episodes than a movie, The Simpson's movie felt like a movie.

I would have to say I am a devoted fan to both, I agree American Dad just doesn't really do much for me but for mindless entertainment when I don't feel like thinking much I will watch it.

With all that being said I am going to take up my second job selling buttscratchers...

Where does Futurama fit into the hierarchy? I’d venture somewhere between FG and Simpson’s for content and watchability.

I have to say that, like runnr, I haven’t watched Simpson’s in a couple seasons. It’s one of those I watched so much that I needed a break from it.

I did like Stewie’s Movie and the Simpson’s Movie but I felt like both were just long episodes (Stewie’s Movie is almost formatted that way). That’s not to discount the content, they were entertaining but I’m not sure that any television show can successfully make the transition to the big screen without it feeling like a long episode. The South Park movie was similar although it came near the beginning of the series so it didn’t quite feel like an episode because 30-minute episodes weren’t programmed into the viewer yet.
