I'm watching The Dresden Files - It's great!!! I can't believe it wasn't renewed for a second season. This show seems to be what could happen if Rockford, Columbo, Fox Mulder and Harry Potter all occupied the same body.
I just finished Chronicles of an Exorcism on IW. I was waiting for this one for a while. What a freakin' disappointment! A lame ripoff of both Blair Witch and Exorcism of Emily Rose. The acting is atrocious (except for the Pentacostal preacher, he was utterly believable). The whole thing is ludicrous and, worse yet, purports to be based on a true case that I've yet to see anyone (the filmakers included) even hazard as guess as to which one. I was really in the mood for a good possession movie, too. I'm going to to watch The Exorcist while it's still on IW and get the bad taste out of my mouth.
not bad if you like FPS (first person shooters), a seriously hot and pouty slavic looking chick and revenge on the Professional/Diehard level... not bad.
I just finished Point of Fear on IW. I'm really torn on this one. It's a zero budget indy made by a couple of brothers and their friends...and it shows. However, the camera work is beautiful, the idea and story make sense (the guy's crazy, so sense is relative), but it follows through cohesively. The acting, sound, and dialogue are utter crap. 2 of the actors turn in decent performances, the rest are obviously school chums. I forgive alot in a film like this, though, since I know it's a first out and the money was non-existent. I'd like to see what the director could do with some decent actors and a budget. He does a great job shooting around effects they couldn't afford and his brother, one of the stars, is an ex-wrestler and the fights are nicely done to his choreography. Unfortunately he can't act his way out of a wet paper bag.
If you love indy horror, can forgive amatuerish stuff, and are always looking for people to watch, give it a shot. If you like polished, skip it. It's a hell of a sight better than a whole lot of stuff I've watched.
Up next is Ace in the Hole. I was going to watch Midnight Express which was listed as available, but after skipping it a couple of times in my queue, it is now listed in the Saved area and is unavailable.
I viewed my first title off of the creepy movies group thread, and watched Horrors of Malformed Men. You need to have patience for bizzare movies to sit this one, but if you do, I would actually recommend it (viewer discretion advised). The best moments hold a surreal beauty. The transfer also looks really crisp for 1969.
I watched Population 436 last night. Not exactly original, but decent nonetheless and the creepy factor present throughout redeemed it. I loved seeing Fred Durst without the piercings and in a wimpy role. Three stars.
