"Add Queue"/"Add Profile" Features Permanently Disabled

I'm starting a new thread for this topic, because I thought it was important.

I just called Netflix customer support. I was told that, as of today, Netflix has permanently disabled the "Add Profile" and "Add Queue" features. Apparently, if you have existing profiles, they will remain untouched. However, from today onwards, you do not have the ability to add new profiles or queues.

Since I didn't set up additional profiles or queues before the shutdown, I'm locked out of these features. I don't see "Add Profile" or "Add Queue" anywhere when I'm logged into my account. Sucks to be me!

So if you already have another profile you can still open a new one? I got as far as the page where you put on all the info for the additional profile but didn't fill it out or try to go any farther.

Since I can't set up a profile, I have no way to verify your question. But, from what the Netflix rep told me, the "Add Queue" and "Add Profile" features are permanently disabled for anyone who hasn't set one up yet. She implied that, if you had existing profiles, you were grandfathered into the system. If not, you're SOL.

I just tested it and was able to create a 3rd profile.

Lame, yes. I've never had any use for extra profiles until today, when I was trying to set one up for my friend. I've been a Netflix member for 3 years.

The same can be done with a "top 10 list".

I know a lot of families use profiles, so I think it's likely they are just phasing this out to be replaced with something else.

Sorry - I never even heard of this feature, let alone used it.

Guess that's why Netflix canned it - so few main stream subscribers (remember they have 8+ million subscribers) use it that it's probably just not cost-effective to maintain anymore.

Not the majority, so toss them to the curb? In an interview they said 1 to 2 percent.. that's still 80,000 to 160,000 paying customers and their families (who generate between $1 and 3 million every month or $12-36 million per year).

It's not these customers' fault that Netflix didn't get the word out to the others better.

Weird. The Add Queue and Reassign DVDs links are back in my account. Anyone else notice the reappearance?

Wait they're getting rid of the profiles? I think people dont generally use that feature because Netflix kept it so boring and where you couldn't do anything with it. I kept hoping they were spruce it up, not downgrade.

And do people mean no new sub-queues now? Im confused.
