A Netflix Community

Did everyone else get this e-mail from Netflix:

" We wanted to let you know we will be eliminating Profiles, the feature that allowed you to set up separate DVD Queues under one account, effective September 1, 2008."

Why?

"While it may be disappointing to see Profiles go away, this change will help us continue to improve the Netflix website for all our customers."

Okay, how does Profiles going away improve Netflix? Am I the only one in household with multiple people each of whom want a different queue for tracking, rating, reviews, etc. Furthermore, according to the FAQ, there's no way to even transfer a Profile to a new separate account. So that means if you spent time rating tons of movies under one profile, all of that is lost! This seems like a huge disruption of service. In what way is this good? And there's not even any way I can see to match the equivalent functionality once they go away.

This to me is a huge negative change to the service for no visible reason.

First of all, thanks for resurrecting this long dead thread. You must be a witch doctor.

Netflix is all about money.

It's called capitalism. Kinda sorta what this country is all about, if you hadn't noticed. But you're entitled to whatever you want whenever you want it, right?

customers are priority LAST.

Nope. Not even remotely true, and I know it's not true because there are countless stories of highly satisfied customers all over the place. Just look around, you'll see them waving.

They still don't compensate for errors (sending the wrong CD etc.

Doesn't happen - at least not with the sort of regularity that warrants whining about it. 5+ years as a customer, plenty of friends and family are customers, all the wonderful people here are customers, and guess what, it doesn't happen. More than likely you're the one that messed up.

OH..and what happened to selling previous viewed CD's to their customers???? ... instead of pleasing the customer they gotta better deal selling them to a wholesaler.

Those rotten filthy bastards!! How dare they make a sound business decision that would benefit their share holders.

What do you think the bonuses are for their "officers"

None of my business and it's none of yours. Bonuses are how successful businesses keep their talent.

Do you think they have a profit sharing benefits for their employees????

Not exactly, but they allow their employees to purchase stock. Does your employer do that?

GREED...alive and well.

And what's your indulgence? Food - booze - hookers? It's got to be something.

They can do all this because their closest competition is still so far behind in quality of service

Now wait a minute. So Netflix sucks donkey balls, yet they are far and away the best service available? I guess that would say a lot about how far this country has deteriorated, wouldn't it? I mean, there was a time when business sense, creativity, innovation, competition, etc were alive and well in the USA. But if nobody can muster up enough strength and vision to contend with the craptacular Netflix that really must mean that this country has gone down the shitter.

OH well until they get better competition we are stuck.

Well that's a terrifying thought. I mean, I'm so terribly unhappy that I get to watch 25-30 movies a month for around $26. But I suppose you're right - until someone decides to give it to me for free, I'm stuck.

**big sigh**

Interesting to pick this particular thread for your "customers are priority LAST" statement, cRanErs.

Netflix changed a business decision about eliminating secondary profiles on member accounts because customers were so attached to the feature. Seems like customer satisfaction was "priority FIRST" in this instance.

First part of your rant: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Its an entertainment service. If you don't like it, leave. Your inability to distinguish between CDs and DVDs and your "officer" compensation nonsense make you look like a moron. And boring.

Except for:

OH well until they get better competition we are stuck. But just wait....someone will come in and challenge them and things will change....just watch.

Wow, you've read the ancient scriptures about the "CD"-by-mail messiah too?

Obama-flix? Yes, we can!

And just for the record, Netflix is one of the few companies that *doesn't* pay bonuses. We do pay high fixed salaries for the best talent we can find. There are optional employee stock purchase and stock options plans, thats all.

Yeah... he said I could get 10 CD's for a penny!

They came in the mail, too!

=================================================
Why would you pay to view a CD??
Have you purchased bridges from any one lately?
I have some land in Florida to sell you. It's just under a little bit of water.

Who? what? Whatever may you be referring to?
My inquisitiveness simply wonders if the artwork on the actual CD would be worth paying to view it. Can it be much more impressive than what may enclosed on the insert in the jewel case? ;)
