A Netflix Community

Still a couple weeks away, and the buzz for this one is already off the charts. I've read on some sites and listened to some podcasts that are already touting best actor Oscar for Heath Ledger and even best picture and best director for Christopher Nolan, which would be fairly unheard of for a super hero flick. Some reports say Movietickets.com is already selling out some screenings in major markets.

It's currently at 100% on Rottentomatoes.com. Some critics there are proclaiming it the best superhero movie ever made and even the best crime drama ever made . DePalma, Scorcese, Michael Mann, and now... Nolan?

Regular tickets are showing up on ebay

Just got back from watching The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger's performace as the Joker was brilliant. He captured the Joker's phychosis and made him more of a threat to Batman than any other version I've seen. However with all that good acting Heath just didn't get the Joker's voice and laugh right. Christian Bale also overcompensated when doing the voice of Batman. The movie was going well until about the middle where Batman seems to loose control of his emotions, something the real Batman never does. Furthermore, the batcave was a joke. That was no cave it was a just bright room with almost nothing but a few laptops in it. After this I don't beleive Christopher Nolan is fit to do anymore Batman movies. Let's get back to Bruce Timms version.

What is the "right" way for the joker's voice and laugh that you are comparing it too?

The movie was going well until about the middle where Batman seems to loose control of his emotions, something the real Batman never does
That's the whole point of the movie, and kind of the point of the history of Batman - that he's riding the cusp between good and evil. Hence, the title, The Dark Knight. The differences between good and evil are blurred. Good cop, bad cop. Good hero, bad hero. Good villain, bad villain. Which is which?

Furthermore, the batcave was a joke. That was no cave it was a just bright room with almost nothing but a few laptops in it.
Are you talking about his lab? That is not supposed to be the bat cave. We were told and shown the significance of the bat cave in Batman Begins.

Mark Hammel is the best Joker voice I've heard thus far. In most versions of the Joker, the characters voice is a little more high pitched. However I will give credit to Heath for portraying a more phychotic and threatening Joker. The character Batman is alway in control and is thinking several steps ahead of everyone else. I understand that in order to make the Joker a threat for Batman he had to get under his skin, but in my opinion they went too far in doing so. The Batcave was destroyed in the first film where they discussed rebuilding it. I assumed that was suppose to be the rebuilt batcave because that was where the Batmobile was. But even if it was just suppose to be a lab is still wasn't much of one.

GREAT points. This is a more humane movie. Want to watch cartoons? watch Hellboy and Incredible Hulk.

There are certain traits that make Batman Batman. If you take some of those away, he's just another superhero and worse, a superhero without any real powers. In Bruce Timms animated version you have those traits and a character who is one up on the other superheroes despite having lesser powers. I'll take that over Nolan's version any day.

Power to attract all type of audiences is greater power than xray vision and spider webs. That's real power. the rest is just cartoon 101.

I liked the movie, what's not to like, but although Heath Ledger might get a nomination for dying young, I doubt he will win. But as much as I liked the movie, I think there are problems, which one cannot discuss without giving away the plot.

go ahead! is the internet...where leaks and 'kill the plot' forums are already on the go!

I think Heath Ledger was trying to imitate the voice of Jack Nicholson, that's what it seems like on the previews anyways. I will be waiting for the movie to come out on DVD, not really into Batman movies.
