What do you still want to see on the Netflix site? (Let's leave out the obvious few since we know about them and know how much you want them: >500 things in queue, 1/2 stars, mac-based instant watching, linux support, 7-day shipping, etc.)
I just started watching a movie and realized it does not have English as a language. Only German and French. I know the listing on the website shows this fact but what I would like to propose is to have a preferred language option setup on the account. When selecting a move into the QUEUE have it display a notice to the user if the avaialble languages of the movie doe not match the preference. just a notice so the user can change their mind. We wated several days while waiting to mail back and obtain another movie.
Wouldn't that be cool if instead of just being listed (usually) whether a movie has particular foreign languages (or subtitles), your language preference was programmed in (like Bluray discs or age-appropriate restrictions for family subaccounts).
Some wish Netflix would work Saturday and Sunday (and that extra weekday in some alternate universe) and make mail come twice a day -- to and from their doorstep -- but even then they would find things to complain about because *the worst thing in the world* is not to have a movie *immediately* if not sooner! (Hm doesn't that sound like download rather than mail delivery?)
With the bucketloads of money we pay NF every month, I don't think it's too much to ask that we all get our movies hand-delivered by courier and that said courier waits outside until we're ready to return that movie. Furthermore, it's not unreasonable to expect the next movie to arrive within the hour, is it? Seven days a week, 365 days a year, obviously. Any delays, for whatever reason, should of course automatically upgrade us to 8 out-at-a-time for at least one year!
And they should also supply tinfoil hats, mine's worn out...
ok, so i don't know if this has been mentioned before, but is netflix working on making firefox (or flock, or other non-explorer browsers) compatible with instant viewing? instant viewing is the only reason i still have explorer on my computer, and the only thing i use it for. also, it seems to run much slower than firefox, which has recently started affecting my instant viewing (though we did just get a new router, could be issues there).
also, this has been mentioned before, but multiple queues and/or more organization options for queues would be nice. it's not a big deal (nothing is, really, and i feel like a brat for complaining about anything to do with this splendid service), but it would help for things like a family-friendly queue and a queue just for one person, or for other reasons mentioned before by others.
this is a tiny, even pathetic quibble, but it'd be nice if you could add movies to your lists (like top 10 lists, not queues) by clicking on some button somewhere on the movie's page, instead of typing the titles in at the community tab. my friend complained that he couldn't find any decent instant viewing movies, so i started to compile a list of things i thought he should watch that were instant viewable, but quit early because i was too lazy to remember the title and go back and forth to type it in. very lame, i know, but i'm sure this feature could be added fairly easily.
There's an excellent thread elsewhere on the Community that explains how to use an IE emulator in Firefox. It works well for me and others who have weighed in on it.
You have five profiles (queues) for Add, Save, and IW titles. Initially I divided up my five by genre (mainstream on 1, documentaries on 2, TV on 3, scifi/classics on 4, and family on 5). I've since stripped my secondary queues to be used as personal or family-friendly queues (adult, child, etc.). I'm even using one queue for all Save movies (on the theory that Save is not Add or Unavailable so maybe having all Saves will mean I'll get some). The ceiling is your limit!
Click the Add to List link in the lower left side of any movie page to add it to one of your lists. This is the only way you can list some movies when duplicate names exist. That's the main way I've built all (argh) my 300 lists.
wow... thanks. this is helpful. i'll check out that emulator, see if it works for me. who knows, it may end up just being my crappy new router, or i just try to watch stuff at peak hours. i'll see
you know what, i brought up the multiple queues because i had tried something before, but i now realized what was wrong. i'm a college student, and i often drive to my parent's house, about an hour away, on weekends and such, so i got tired of switching my shipping address back and forth. so i set up another profile on my account, but tried to make the second profile's queue ship to my parent's address, which at this time i don't believe is an available feature.
hmm, i thought i had scoured the page for some "add to list" button, but i must not have looked hard enough. i'll check again, thanks.
now.... what can you do about persuading the post office to deliver on sundays? :)
It can be the router or router software. I had an older laptop in the beginning; the hard drive started losing sectors and slowly bits of the Windows network software disappeared. I swapped out a new HP laptop with a nice screen and Vista and have never looked back.
No, you can't have two mailing addresses on one account, no matter how many profiles. I'd like to divide up my account with friends and have multiple-home delivery but, I don't know, that seems to be anathema to Netflix, profits, and fair business. I wouldn't mess with a workaround either.
I can do nothing about Sundays.
Here is the text from a sample screen that includes the Add to List link at the bottom:

yeah, i found the "add to list" link about four seconds after you told me. i need to be less lazy with my eyes or something.
kudos to the new laptop. incidentally, i have sworn off hp (for laptops, anyway) as my old lappy got a real nasty bout of alzheimers. i just got a new vaio, which i love so far, and haven't had problems with anything except the instant viewing. like i said, i'll check out the emulator.
and true, i understand how multiple addresses would lead to problems. tis a shame. i'll just buckle down and change the shipping address as the need arises. or i can just stop whining and spend a weekend not watching a brand new movie from netflix. it's a hard life...
thanks, robowriter. i've used netflix for about 6 months now, but am relatively new to the community and forums and such. are you one of the go-to guys?
