I absolutely love Vamps. I think if I could ever get my sh*t together and put anything on paper it would be a vampire novel. It would have to be something that hasn't been done before to satisfy me. That got me thinking, so I want to know:
What is(are) your favorite vampire movie(s) or your favorite vampire(s)?

Let's talk it up!

Mine :
The Lost Boys
Kiss of the Vampire
Blade
Innocent Blood
Salems Lot
From Dusk To Dawn
Interview With a Vampire
Vampyros Lesbos
Near Dark
Bram Stokers Dracula
and the 1931 classic Dracula

Forgot about Legend of the 7 golden vampires - that's good one, in line with Mr. Vampire and Tsui Harks's Vampire Hunters. There's some other one's from HK in the "hopping vampire" tradition I've seen but they are mostly forgettable.

Fright Night (Chris Sarandon is the ultimate sexy vampire)
Day Watch
Nightwatch
The Lost Boys
Innocent Blood (Gangsters and Vampires?? My lucky day!)
Cronos
30 Days of Night (I personally loved the vampire romanticism being removed and just letting them be predators again)

Oh hey, and just thought of this. The Night Stalker. Reporter on the trail of a vampire TV movie penned by Richard Matheson that ultimately grew into the monster of the week series Kolchak, The Night Stalker. Tight, tidy and surprisingly rough for television.

I was just reading on BeyondHollywood.com about Chan-wook Park's vampire movie coming out next year. The working title is Evil Live-The Thirst, Korean title Bakjwi - The Korean word for bat. If Oldboy & the other Vengance movies are any indication, Park was destined to make a vampire film. I would go to the theater to see this one.

I wasn't able to find much on a quick search... what I did see looks pretty damn good.

Friend just reminded me of one she borrowed and never gave back (probably why I forgot about it) - Vampire Journals. Good story but what I remember most about it are the great neck sucking scenes.

I think most of my favorite vampire movies have already been listed here. The Lost Boys, and Bram Strokers Dracula, and Underworld, are among my favorites.

One thing I always find interesting, about watching vampire movies, is finding out, which of the vampireisms, they will use. What are vampireisms, you ask? I guess, they would be the stereotypical vampire qualities that we all know and love. Each movie/tv show/book seems to pick and choose, from the big list of vampire stereotypes, in attempt to make a unique story. I know, it wouldn’t be a vampire story, if the vampires didn’t have vampire qualities, I just think its fun to see which they will use, and which they will cast aside.

How they are made?
- Are they made, by just being bitten, or do they have to also drink the blood of the vampire that bit them? Perhaps, they have to make a kill on their own first.

Disease or act of God?
- Is being a vampire, caused by a blood born disease, or is it more religious / spiritual?

Where do they sleep?
- Coffin
- Hanging upside down
- Freezer
- Crates of dirt, taken from the bowels of their evil castle.

How to kill them?
- Steak in the heart
- Head chopped off
- Fire

Can they be hurt by…
- Holy water
- Crosses
- Garlic
- Bullets

Can they be out in the daylight?
- Sometimes it turns them into flaming torches, sometimes it just makes them cranky.

Other attributes
- Strength
- Speed
- Healing
- Flying
- Shape shifting (Bat, wolf, rats,...)
- power of suggestion / hypnosis

What I love most, is when one character in a movie, ask another, about one of the above characteristics, then the first says, “no silly, that’s just in the movies..”.

Ex:
Person: So, you're a vampire? Can you turn into a bat?
Vampire: No silly, that's just in the movies..
Person: Oh, then you don't drink blood either, right?
Vampire: No, that one is true.. ARRR!!! - rip crunch slurp

Striker, you have brought depth and quality to our humble discussion. I am in your debt.

I'd like to see a daywalking shapeshifter, who was bitten 3 times but had to take their first victim to turn. He/She would have awesome hypnotic powers of suggestion and the ability to only be killed by flaming holy water LOL(jk)

I can't give it all away just in case I ever make something of myself. I promise to share with all of you first before I take it to the world!
