A Netflix Community

OKay, I'll admit from the start that I didn't look through all the former discussions, so maybe this has already been discussed. Give me a break, I'm at work and need to be doing some actual work. Ha!

But I just have to complain about the lack of contractions in the review on Netflix. What is up with that? I admit I'm a fast typer and sometimes leave things out, but I always go back and check. I had thought the first couple of times it happened that the mistakes had been mine, but when all of my reviews started showing up without apostrophe marks on the contractions that stand in for the missing letter (s), I did a test to make sure it wasn't me, and it wasn't.

I find that I now have to edit all my reviews once they show up in order to put back in these marks. Not at a major complaint or anything, but it is a little annoying, especially when I see a review where I've missed this edit and I know the review has been up for a while. Not sure if this is worth complaining to Netflix about, but wondered if this was happening to anyone else?

OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO some one is stealing the ' damn it... Just teasing you. Some people that would really bug. I haven't noticed at all and if I get a chance I will check my few reviews but no guarantee I could even give you any proof even if I do I don't know that I used a ' in any of them.

Sorry. I don't understand. Explain it to me. OK?

Now my question would be what would they DO with the stolen apostrophe's? Ha!

Hmm... I just did a quick glance on many reviews and see that there are contractions with the apostrophes. Post a link to one of yours that doesn't work, so we can take a look and see.

Okay, will do when I write some more. I have just been correcting them once they come up for public viewing. It has been happening for at least a month, I think. I only was monitoring it this last week with the new ones I posted, but I've already corrected them. Thanks.

I have my ' too, I even double checked past my review page and the actually movies page. Sorry not many but I know for sure that Frasier and Enchanted Journey had the ' in both places. I couldn't find my Cho review quickly it is buried or I don't know how to pop straight to it. Oh I hope we can solve the mystery of the missing ' the suspense is killing me.

I've had this happen at Netflix before. I frequently use alt+0133 (and several others) and have found that they get replaced with rubbish, sometimes I can edit and repeat, and it will stick, most often not. I am fond of using ellipsis and practicing the art of Aposiopesis.

I've also had occasion where a few non alphanumeric characters have disappeared.

A larger gripe for me is that I'm a stickler for spelling, and I "always" spell check my reviews and posts. I hate it when after awhile letters mysteriously disappear or get replaced with something else. But that's happened here and at other forums, and someone here explained that is due to the nature of the Internet and data drifting.

Well I'm glad it is not just me. But what is alt+0113? You know I'm clueless sometimes. Ha! And I am a terrible speller, so that is my main reason for always checking my reviews. I hate those kinds of errors too, especially in my work, so I keep a dictionary handy and always check to make sure I've got the words spelled right.

I tend to use many contractions in my reviews.
When I submit them, they are (almost?) always preserved when the review finally posts.
BUT I also often edit my reviews after they have posted. When I save them again, this is when apostrophes and other symbols get replaced by gibberish. So I have to replace the gibberish with the correct symbol and save again. Then it is fixed. Unless it isn't, in which case I'll fix it again.
Eventually I beat the review into submission.
Yes, it is annoying.
