I am increasingly frustrated and irritated that the movies I really want to view are not available when requested. More and more, the only ones I can rent are those that are second or third on my list. What's up. New releases are rarely available right away. I'm ready to cancel this subscription and go down the street to Blockbuster. Anyone else experiencing this?
M, Netflix is great for many things, new releases is not one of them. Mainly for the same reasons they are also so difficult to find at Blockbuster stores... everybody wants them. What I do is uses Netflix to queue up movies I want to see. If there is a new release that I absolutely HAVE to see, I try to find it available at a rental store. And ocassionally I get lucky and receive a new release from Netflix. Good luck!
I'm on a very long wait for Salo that just got released in this country finally, but ya know what? Blockbuster wouldn't touch that film with a ten foot pole so I have no choice but to wait until the other sickos are done watching it so they can send it off to this sicko! It's the name of the game.

What has surprised me is that I almost NEVER used to have that problem and then - seemingly all of a sudden - every new release at the top of my queue, whether movie or TV show, is passed over for something below it. As far as I know I am renting at approximately the same rate as ever, but a little over a month ago, they stopped sending me new releases, even though I was careful to be sure that a disc was checked in on a Monday so they could send the new release out for Tuesday delivery.
I haven't had much problem getting new movies on their release date. It's just a matter of making sure there's an open slot for when they become available. However, if you miss the initial release date, then there will be a long wait. Doesn't bother me because there's lots of other things I want to watch, but others here have suggested Redbox as an easy way to supplement your NF flow with popular new releases.
The key word there is popular new releases, Heady. When it comes to stuff like Salo, I think NF gets three copies and lets the sickos duke it out amongst ourselves. ; )

No, I was wrong. They're sending me the disc, but from a distribution center on the other side of the country. Sheesh. Anybody know how long that's supposed to take?
