lol, if I am not watching movies I have my nose in a book...

Even my avatar is a book character.
Saturday night i watched Event Horizon seen it years ago,but still a very good sci-fi movie 3 and a half stars. Then i watched The Conversation wasn't what i expected, i like Gene Hackman but i thought the movie stunk, i give it 2 stars. Then it was Syriana This was an interesting movie to watch about the big oil and the Middle East, I give it 4 stars. Waiting for The Orphanage to arrive. I've read some of the reviews and watched the preview, looks to be a pretty good flick.
Give me a heads up on what you think about the Orphanage - It looks interesting.
Sure will, i should be getting it very soon.
Unexpectedly I received Madame Butterfly. I say unexpectedly because I was supposed to get MEDIUM season 4 - It was LONG WAIT and then it wasn't but by the time they got my movies back to ship more, it was LONG WAIT again. Bummer!!!

Madame Butterfly was intersesting. I had forgotten it was a french Opera when I 1st popped it in. I don't know why, maybe because in the description sai it was a Martin Scorsese film. I guess it made me assume it would be sung in English. In the beginning I found myself struggling with accepting that the characters were speaking French considering the film is about an American in Japan. It seems like English or Japanese would have been more appropriate. I enjoy foreign films so dealing with the subtitles is not biggie to me. It just kinda seemed out of place. Then again I don't have a whole lot of experience watching Opera. I know French and Italian are the more popular styles. Once I got beyond the 'interesting' translation in the subtitles and got a hold of the story I found myself not wanting to turn it off. It was a beautiful set and Ying Huang has an amazing operatic voice. She did a great job with the character especially considering it was her 1st film. In the end, I was not dissapointed.

In the mail Monday I should have season 1, disk one of Big Love & Bewitched. Tuesday is the anniversary of the very 1st airing of Bewitched so it seemed fitting to watch the 1st DVD of season 1. Big Love is something I added because I have heard so much about it from people who watched on HBO. As a former Mormon there is that little connection that makes me even more curious.
I'm not doubting you about the language of Madame Butterfly, since the director is French. But I find it odd not that it isn't sung in English or Japanese (since I'm the daughter of an opera buff, and have been getting used to the illogic of opera since I was a little girl), but that it was translated from the original Italian into French for this production. ???

Try watching Lucia di Lammermoor the next time you want an operatic culture whiplash. Again, it is an Italian opera, this time about a feud between two Scottish clans. (Based on a novel by Sir Walter Scott.)
Amelie - Thought it was just great! I really wasn't expecting to like this after my previous experience of suffering through half an hour of Jeunet's unwatchably irritating Delicatessen, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure everyone here has already seen it so I won't bother going into details. A lot of heart, blah blah blah. 4 stars!

2LDK - Nothing special. Two Japanese chicks duke it out in their apartment. Yeah, that's all. It was surprisingly rather good for what it was, but it's not a must-see or anything. I think it succeeded at what it set out to do, and for a Japanese film it was rather well-paced. 3 stars.
Man, you guys are tough. I saw Baby Mama at the theater and was laughing the whole time. Amy and Tina have lots of chemistry together, I thought they did a great job. Yeah, the plot was silly, but it was a fun girl-buddy movie (IMHO).
Well I'm looking forward to seeing it. I like stupid predictable comedies!

Oh, and I just noticed that Greg Kinnear is in it. SOLD!
I finally got arroung to watching Married Life which has been sitting at home for a couple of weeks now. I was really looking forward to this new release, but I'm gonna have to put it in the "disappointing" list. It had lots of elements that should have made it a good movie - great acting, beautiful period scenery, a nice pseudo-noir subplot - but it was just so boring. I really don't mind a slow pace, but this movie had me waiting for it to get better and it just never did. It had a lot of potential but just fell flat.
that's about like the movie i watched last night, where Sleeping Dogs Lie You must see this if you are into chicks with animal fetish, that's all say other than i thawt it was a gem.
LOL, I loved the reviews for this one when I first heard about this movie.

"The most sensitive and thoughtful film about dog-blowing I've ever seen. "
