"Friends" who demand you rate all their reviews positive

Something I have noticed with the more Netflix friends I aquire...they all just expect you to go through and give all of their reviews a positive rating. I don't see how that is helping anybody. One has even sent a note out saying they will delete anyone from their friends list that doesnt regularly go through and rate all of their reviews helpful. They will of course do it in return but I dont want that kind of feedback. I'll admit that I've written some crappy reviews before and they shouldnt be one of the most helpfuls just because I have a large friends list. How does that help someone deciding wether or not to rent the movie?
I understand everyone wants to improve their reviewer ranking but for what? It doesnt mean anything when all you do is flood your votes. I used to enjoy watching my rank when I still thought it meant something. Now I just write reviews because I enjoy movies, writing, and I sometimes have slow days at work. Getting the highest rank isn't going to make you some kind of e-celebrity. So just judge reviews honestly and find out how helpful you really are.

Can't say that I don't completely agree with you on this issue but what I found even worse is that I think I have some people that have faved me just so they can click not helpful on my reviews and that stinks.

see now thats just sad. what does doing something like that accomplish? I've read alot of your reviews and they are well written, we seem to have somewhat similar taste in movies too. I dont think i had your friend link but i know your on my faves list.

I think it's pretty pathetic as well and it may only be like three people out of the hundreds that have faved me but I see a definite pattern when their reviews go up and mine start to get unhelpfuls at an alarming rate and especially if it's an old review. Oh well, what can ya do? I would prefer to simply see my stats just as you say, on a legit basis so I know whether or not my viewpoints are valid, or I'm out of my mind! lol

Also I'm amazed when one of the big 3 writes a review and a day later it already has 250 votes. Everyone on their friends list just votes wether they read the review or not.
It's funny when you write the first review for a film and then they come along later and say the exact same thing (sometimes using your phrasing and examples) and triple your votes.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining....not trying to really...just pointing out things I've noticed and how silly it all is.

Some thing is fishy with that.. 250 votes in just a day? Are you sure they are friends or instant friends? I know of some guy who hired somebody to make some fake ids and vote for him. Some people to get their reviews seem good.

Any friend that would do that is not really your friend. Just say no.

Until I started reading about it here, I had no idea people's lives revolved around their "status" at Netflix. I don't mean anyone who is posting here, I mean the people who try to manipulate their standing by getting people to vote on them. I mean sweet baby jeebus, it's an internet site. Who cares?

I completely agree. I mean what does it matter in the big picture of life. Helpful, not helpful, You still got to put you pants on one leg at a time. You still have to pay 2 dollars to ride the subway. You're still gonna die.
Who are these losers who care so much about there reviews. I don't get it!

OH! BTW, would you guys give all of my reviews a helpful rating. I mean come on there really great reviews, they have to be I wrote them. So go and do it now!

It is so hard not to die of laughter at how serious people take their Netflix reviewer ranking.

But at the same time, you are right. To each their own. If people want to put stock into it, and it makes them happy to drive their ranking up as high as it can go, then go for it I say.

Live the dream.

I'm not supposed to discuss this, but there are the orgies with supermodels...

Dude, WTF? Always shooting your big mouth off! Now everyone is going to be looking to get more "helpfuls"

*Oh Lord Pihkal!* (<-----That's my all-time favorite quote from here, I've started to use it instead of cussing in real life.)

So what does one need to do around here to be called a LORD?

People need to relax about helpful clicks and whatnot. They won't even contribute to one's ranking. It's all about making "sexy" lists! *_*
