I did a search and couldn't find this catagory. I was thinking about a couple of my favorites like Tarantula from 1955 which is my favorite big bug movie. I remember going with my grandmother to see that picture and scared to death when I saw Leo G. Carroll's face after he had been attacked with one eye higher then the other. I wouldn't even get into bed until the sheets had been completely checked for weeks.

The other movie I always loved The Blob, the 1958 version with Steve McQueen, which was much better then 1988. And I thought that the Beware of the Blob, the 1972 version was pretty campy. I remembered Godfrey Cambridge in that one.

Los Angeles's KHJ TV station used to run the same movie every night for 5 nights and one week they ran one of the versions of King Kong and I was obsessed with it.

I do love watching those silly 1950's sci-fis, they're great late night fluff.

Anyone have their favorites from any of the earlier periods before cgi got so whiz bang?

These are more TV shows than pictures but i use to watch Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Ray Bradbury Theater, Tales From the Darkside, Night Gallery, Land of the Lost to name a few.

I loved watching Ray Bradbury as well. I think I finally overdosed on Alfred Hitchcock (because it's still on all the time on Chiller) and Twilight Zone. These days if there is an old movie on Chiller, I will save it.

Ever seen One Step Beyond? That was a good show. I'll always remember the Tales from the Darkside episode where the family tried to convince grandpa that he really was dead. That was classic.

It came out before I was born but I remember seeing it as a kid. Godzilla vs King Kong. MAN! That was cool. Actually I loved all the Godzilla vs movies. But Especially Godzilla vs King Kong that was my Ali Frazier as a kid.

Also, I really liked that giant flying turtle monster I can't remember his name but I liked his movies.
I always wanted to see him fight godzilla but I don't think he ever did. :(

King Kong, that reminds me of that scene where he grabs the giant snake and splits it head in half. That was pretty brutal to see when your a kid. Godzilla, i remember watching them on a Saturday or Sunday morning all the time when i was a kid.

you mean "Gammera: The Invincible" netflix has them. look up "gamera" i was lucky enough to see "gojira" at a movie theatre a few years ago. unfortunately, i had the rude teenager problem. not ALL teens are like that, but just my luck, i was seated in front of 2! but it was a GOOD movie! totally different from "godzilla, king of the monsters" personally i like the raymond burr version too. i can't stand tristar's piece of garbage. criterion has brought out "gojira" it's not too bad. and no, godzilla and gamera never went at it, toho and daei you know.

The original Raymund Burr was the best. I think they all got cheesy after that.

i grew up watching kaiju on "the 6:30 movie" in the late 60's early 70's *blushes* back then it wasn't "kaiju" in america, it was simply "giant monster movies" one week every 3 months or so, "godzilla" etc would be on tv! my 17 year old son is now gonna be director because of me hooking him on "godzilla 1985" back in 1993 (i saw it in the theatre , HAD to get it on vhs) Gamera is the correct spelling, what Sandy Frank was thinking, I don't know :( You SERIOUSLY need to see "gamera guardian of the universe" not only a good kaiju, but a good MOVIE period! but we have practically ALL of them on dvd now, up to and including "gojira" on criterion. GOSH my son and i LOVE japanese cinema! Kurosawa ROCKS! and i am deeply in love with toshiro mifune *grins* and j-horror? hideo nikata is TOPS!

The original Outer Limits has always been a favorite. As for giant bugs, how about The Deadly Mantis!
