I hope this is not a repeat topic, but food and drink prices; at least in California are just threw the roof. God bless it (Meaning the opposite) it is just crazy how expensive a Large Bag of popcorn, drink and a ICee can cost $15 dollars. Oh, wait! Want the Nachos and a Hot dog that will be another 10 Bucks, come on,…Fucken shit lower those prices’ it just takes the fun out of a movie. Well at least that’s my comment any one with me??

Fully agreed it is ridiculous. That was another great thing about the drive-in being put up again, their concession stand was very reasonable. Now that we are getting cold fronts I can get the hubby back out to the drive-in.

I'm completely in agreement about the prices in the movie theaters, SMJ. They are crazy expensive.

But can I just say that your apostrophe abuse in the title alone is enough to make the baby Jesus cry.

Personally I think they (being the movie theater industry) would benefit by creating mini food courts, which they lease out to folks like McD's, Subway, Baskin Robbins, etc... The problem is that they need to concessions to help pay the studios, otherwise we'd be paying $20 a ticket just to see a single movie.

I also think they are a dying breed in so far as entertainment is concerned... There are just not enough folks who can afford to drop $100 for a family of four to see a single movie. So they need to start evolving their business model pretty darn quickly, or risk going the way of the drive-ins (which seem to be making a comeback in some areas!).

I'd rather go to a drive in and see 3 cheesy b flicks, eat $1 hot dogs, munch on stale popcorn and drink gallons of watered down pop, then pay for one movie at todays inflated prices.

I am watching opening night movies 2 for $5 per adult. I kind of wish they would occassionally play some cheesy B flicks but I saw Ironman opening weekend at the drive-in. Not to mention the concession stand has better food than most concession stands in movie theaters. They have a freaking shrimp basket lol. I had wonderfully bad nachos =)

Yum! I love wonderfully bad nachos! I can get those at the corner gas station right up the road from my house!

All for $5 and a side of 10lbs of ass fat.

Yeah the side of fat ass though is so totally worth it for bad nachos lol. I will have to make some at home this weekend or something because family wants to go back to the Renaissance sans kiddos in a couple weeks and I have a critical analysis due I can't go play at the drive in this weekend or next.

Sigh, but for some reason the ones we make at home just are not as sinfully good as the ones we buy from other places.

I thinks its those darn labels fault! You know the ones, that we are "supposed" to look at so we don't get stuff high in fat or sodium...

Though I must admit those lime and/or jalapeño flavored chips are Da Bomb when making nachos at home... Especially with a hot n spicy chili... A good queso sauce, and some sliced jalapeños on the side.

I know it is the getting them out part I think because I won't look at that label lmao. At home I usually make queso with sausage and rotel or at least hamburger meat. I haven't done just plain old nachos in forever. I do have some serious homework this weekend and such so I figure have nachos while I am typing away would make me feel like a real college kid instead of the old drop out =P

See now I would get distracted if I tried eating nachos while typing away. Id be so worried about getting cheese on my keyboard that I would spend a lot of time licking it off my fingers...

Which would lead to thoughts of something else... Well my mind would not stay on homework that's for sure!

And hence that's another reason why NF rules! You don't have to get dressed up, nor deal with other people who could possibly ruin your theatre experience. But the most important reason why I prefer home viewing-if you have to use the restroom, you can pause it!

The last film I've seen at the theatres was The Incredibles; and EVERY time we go there(no matter how much we eat before the movie) we have to get something at the concession stand.

I miss drive-in's too; actually in my area there's still two of them left. But it would help if I had a car. LOL

When I frequented more often, I used to bring my own drinks and food especially in the winter.

I still buy food from one theater, but the prices are somewhat bearable. It is a much more pleasant viewing experience there so I don't mind spending a little bit more than I normally would. (I almost never buy food/drinks in other theaters.)

I never buy food at the multiplex. You're right, the prices are insane.

I think it's funny that the two arthouse theatres in my area--which are non-profit (they run on member subscriptions)--not only have cheaper food, but better food (high end chocolate bars like Ghirardelli, etc.)
