Netflix seems to be putting more effort into expanding the number of "instant" titles and, while this has resulted in a floodtide of crappy horror and flakey religious titles, there's quite a few gems flowing in as well.
Even though Stephen King disliked it, I continue to enjoy rewatching Kubrick's The Shining.
I've been waiting 15 years to see Falling Down, and I'll be firing that up right after this post!
The Mission would be brilliant if all it had going was scrumptious cinematography of Brazil's rainforests, amd Morricone's heartbreaking score -- but it has much more than that!

I have no real suggestions, except I think Watch It Now needs a little work. It is near impossible to find anything decent, due to its shoddy construction. It is nice the way there is a play button in the Queue now though.
What do you suppose motivates this thread? I think what we're dealing with is a "surfeit of riches," as I know there's good stuff available.
Still. I find many of the browsing options helpful. particularly "browse by star-rating" and "recent additions." Browsing by Network is great when you want to grab a little TV fix. "Near impossible" seems to me a gross exaggeration.
Another great one, Empire of the Sun, a neglected Spielberg gem that features Christian Bale's youthful film debut.
JUST put that one on my queue! I remember seeing the tv version years ago but it was cut down to just over an hour and I hate watching edited and tv-versions.
You can start by clicking on the Genres, top 50, top star rating, or any of the other links on the right side, and going through the titles there. When you find something you like, add it to your queue, then you'll see what you've added in your queue to watch - at any time.

I will admit I exaggerated somewhat, but the Watch It Now tab has limited functionality. Netflix could improve such functionality by adding a Top 20 for each genre, and within each genre allow a sort by star rating.
I don't think you were derailing it at all, as the theme of the thread is "finding the good stuff." If there's ways to make it easier, that's plenty relevant.
