I watched "The Best Man", a crackerjack politcal drama with Henry Fonda and Cliff Robertson from 1964.

Up next is my third attempt to get through "Voyage of the Damned" with Faye Dunaway and Lee Grant.
Prof, with your quest to see all the nominated films, is there some kind of order that you follow or is it random?

(I'm assuming that Voyage of the Damned was nominated for something otherwise why would you try 3 times to watch it.)
No particular order, I watch them as I'm able to get my hands on them. I've essentially worked my way down to the movies that have a single nomination. 'Voyage' is a supporting actress nomination for Lee Grant, otherwise it isn't of note. It's a 3 hour marriage of 'Ship of Fools' and a holocaust movie -- it comes off like a bad TV movie, despite a stellar cast. Hell it even has Orson Welles in it. 'The Best Man' had a single supp. actor nomination, but I really enjoyed it.

BTW, get 'Blast of Silence' to the top of your queue. I'm finally going to be able to replace my bootleg VHS copy. Review up.
I was just curious how systematic you were about it. Orson Welles did some crappy movies (acting not directing).

get 'Blast of Silence' to the top of your queue.

Done and done.
"...get 'Blast of Silence' to the top of your queue."

Consider it done. Well, near the top anyway.
Watched PU-239. I really enjoyed it as I thought it was an original story idea and because it was realistically portrayed. However, the more I've thought about it, I'm not quite as enamored as I first was. A solid 4-star film.

Next for me is either The Kite Runner or The Detective. I may also IW Evil. Been meaning to see that for years.
Heathen and Bum, these look like great suggestions! I wish my damn mind wasn't so screwed up and I could get off the stupid Oscar movies. I'm just getting so close to the end that I can't stop. I'm gonna make an extra queue to store these recommendations.
and congrats on having your boy home.
Just finished The Kite Runner. Very, very moving. Powerful, passionate, well-told story. Also watched The Strange Love of Martha Ivers. I just can't seem to get enough Stanwyck lately.
Last night: The Game Plan

I like The Rock but not really in this.

Watching now: An Evening With Kevin Smith... very good so far.
Rounders

Rounders is an entertaining look at the world of gambling and card playing. The Hollywood depiction of the two shows a bit of both sides in a soft-pitch manner..

The cast and acting exceptional, the cinema very good, but .. ironically the story didn't take enough risks at the end. ~ but its Hollywood and still a fun film to watch mostly because of the cast.

Malkovich's Ukrainian (not Russian) accent is superb and as usual his acting 99% perfect (he always has some stage in him)

matt
Rounders is one of my favorites! Matt Damon. Ed Nortor, John Malkovich, John Turturro & Martin Landau. I think it's a fun one to see.
