What's your input for a flick with a great battle scene?
I'm starting w/ classic battles - you decide if modern-ish gunfights count.

Could be because of cinematography, the action, the accuracy, the impact it made on you.

To get it started:
Glory
Braveheart

Braveheart is my very favorite movie I think of all time and it's a shame I have to feel the way I do about Mel now. I still love the film, I just don't like the real him very much anymore. If you were talking war battle I might say Hamburger Hill for some seriously twisted battle scenes but Full Metal Jacket and Platoon both rival it for some scenes.

Troy. All of the battles really, but the one between Hector and Achilles.. AWESOME! Sound effects, hot men, what have you. =)

Must agree on 300!!!

Speaking of two hot men just battling it out forever, this is the movie to see! Ravenous Guy Pearce and Robert Carlyle

I'm going to take huge crap for this, but the battle for Helm's Deep in LoTR, The Two Towers or the battle outside of Minas Tirith..just such incredible odds and these horrific things running in at you en masse.

I was going to say The LoTR battle scenes.

I second this. As well as the Zombie Battle scene at the end of Jackson's Dead Alive (Braindead for you European elitists out there).

Not always epic scenes but some of my favorites are in -

The 13th Warrior - cold battle scenes! Shivver
Enemy at the Gates
Black Hawk Down
Tora! Tora! Tora! - available to Watch Instantly
All 6 star movies for me!
The 300 and Braveheart had great scenes and I really liked the beginning of Saving Private Ryan although I hated the rest of the movie.

Opps I fogot Patton.

The 13th Warrior was amazing! I don't know why I like that movie so much, but I watch it everytime it comes on and keep meaning to pick up the DVD.

Yes, it's a great movie. One of my favorite scenes from any film is in there. When Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan is sitting with the Vikings and begins to understand their language. I thought that transition was brilliant.

agreed. That scene is so amazing, what a subtle development, that is so believable.
