I thought of Howdy Doody but you specified hand puppets. He doesn't count for that! I had my own marionette when I was a kid, it was very entertaining. I liked Pinnochio too.

Awwww... lamb chop. Cute!

Best puppets... definitely the Skeksis and the Mystics from The Dark Crystal. Those guys were the coolest. Those little podlings were cool too. Everything about the Dark Crystal was great, who am I kidding?

Gobo from Fraggle Rock was kick butt... but I was always partial to the Doozers.
