So far to me only twice--receiving a DVD from a distribution facility other than the one from which you normally receive your movies. I live in Hollister, California, and my nearest facility is in San Jose. The first time was in March 2007 when I requested the 1978 adaptation of the Neil Simon play "California Suite." They did not have a copy of this in San Jose, so they had to send a copy from Greensboro, North Carolina. The e-mail stating this arrived the last Thusday in March '07. Naturally, it would take at least fourdays to arrive from North Carolina to California, and the DVD arrived the following Monday.

The next time was earlier this year with "High School Musical" (which had been tying up slot one of my queue since right after Christmas with a short wait). Finally, on January 15, they were able to send it. However, HMS was strangely not available in San Jose, so the copy they sent came from Reno. It was a shorter arrival time from Nevada to California, only two days.

It happens to me at least once or twice a month but I watch very obscure titles and I can understand it if Netflix may have a low supply of them and need to send them from somewhere else.

I'm just thankful that I have some place that I can rent these obscure movies from. It warms my microwaved heart to know that I can see almost everything that's available for only $20 dollars a month.

Brilliance.

Absolutely. I don't mind the once a month or so that I have to wait 1-2 extra days or the odd time they send it by boat from the Guam distribution facility.

It doesn't bother me when I get an older title from Alaska or California (I'm on the East Coast). But when a new release travels 3000 miles, that's a little iffy.

I've only been a member for 3.5 months, but it happened to me twice.
Like Microwaved, I'm just happy to see some of the titles. The last one was only about 5 years old. I caught it in the theatres, but have not been able to find a copy around here. I was been looking for over a year...

I'm in Southern California, and they've occasionally sent stuff to me from New Jersey, Colorado, and somewhere else I can't remember (it was probably North Carolina). Usually, like Microwaved says, it is something "obscure" or foreign. I don't think it's ever happened with a popular title like your High School Musical incident, but you may have to take the time of year/holiday season/school break into account for that one.

It's happened to me 3 times since I joined in February. They always predicted a day or two longer then it actually took for me to get it. This usually only added one day to me recieving it. One thing you can do to minimize turn around time is throw out the return envelope to the far away sending facility and send it back in a local facility return envelope.

It happens to me a lot. Like others, I suspect it has to do with my tastes for not-so-popular titles. Sometimes the movie can take up to a week, but usually 3 to 4 days is about average. I have learned to make sure that I don't put two "odd" movies next to each other in the queue. I am on the east coast, and Colorado, California and Texas seem to be where a lot of titles I want to see are housed.

I have an inconsequential romantic comedy coming from Phoenix, AZ this week. I think Arizona is a first for me.

i live in louisiana and usually get all my movies from baton rouge,la cause its the nearest shipping center. But i had like three or four dvds so far ship from texas.

thats crazy. i had rented the facts of life season four(i think) and i got a note saying it wasnt at the baton rouge center and that the closest center that had it was kansas. So it shipped from there. i found it funny that nowhere closer had it cause i didnt have long wait or anything by the title. I dunno lol. i got it though so i didnt care if i had to wait a little longer.

maybe so. i get three at a time. i watch one before i go to work(i worl afternoon/night) then the other two when i get home from work. then i ship them off the next day. so maybe that has something to do with it.
