Nicely done Prof! I just got done watching Fingerprints on IW. It's a pretty lame ripoff of Nightmare on Elm St. with a little Friday the 13th and Urban Legend thrown in for good measure. The acting is bottom of the barrel, the script feels like it's wading through knee high mud, and you know the surprise "twist" ending about 10 mins in. If you like SciFi channel original movies, you might like it. I'm not sure who the target audience is. There are bare breasts, drug use and cursing, but the horror aspects are definitely targeted to the family movie types. I'm glad I freed it up from my queue space, but there are several 4 star reviews, so go figure.
I'd far and away recommend The Orphanage, also on IW, over this one.
Heat ~ See DeNiro and Pacino together! Plus Val Kilmer and more. Five stars. The Eleventh Hour ~ Global warming documentary. Leonardo DiCaprio narrates. Four stars. Third Watch (Season 1) ~ Crime thriller with cops, firemen and paramedics. Community policing point of view. Great ensemble acting. Five stars. Music Within ~ Drama about Richard Pimentel who pioneered employment for the disabled and helped inspire the Americans with Disabilities Act. Four stars. Sharkwater ~ Unusual documentary. Sharks are our friends! Four stars.
Later tonight there is a 3 hour "Night Gallery" marathon on a local tv channel; I doubt I'll be able to resist, even if they are the butchered 30-minute syndication episodes.
BTW I just joined the community and this is my first post! Greetings to the venerable Professor- I always enjoy your reviews and find them helpful.
Welcome Ghoulardi. It's great to have you here. Season 1 of Night Gallery is available at HULU.com. If you don't know about HULU, it's a site that offers TV and movies to see free of charge on line. They do have very brief ads (10 seconds) in the show but the ads are much less annoying than those on TV. I watch a lot of Netflix Instant Watch but sometimes I find things on HULU that NF doesn't offer.
Thanks for the welcome. I have visited HULU. I actually have the Night Gallery Season 1 dvds, but, you know, sometimes I feel like being a passive vegetable :-) and the heavily-edited (that is, *ruined*) syndicated episodes of NG are still interesting to me in some twisted way ;-)
