I'm wondering: has there ever been any talk of having multidisc series be collapsible in the queue so they don't take up as much screen? I have a lot of multidisc anime series in my queue and many are at least 10 discs. It would certainly be nice to collapse them to one line.

Why?

My queue is one and a half; screens wide and only ten lines deep. Any compression of the queue would be delightful to me.

However I rather suspect this takes programmers, formatting programmers at that, and Netflix has too much on its hands to bother with us cranky old customers. They have new, spendthrift, young, view it on demand now customers to satisfy first.

"My queue is one and a half; screens wide"

That shouldn't be. What's your screen resolution? Have you tried ctrl +/- ?

Not to my knowledge. I am at my 500 disc limit and there is still stuff I want to add. I want it to be collapsible so it would count series instead of discs towards the limit and so they would ship in the right friggin' order

or just add the first disc of any series that you are interested in ... then you won't use up all that space .. because all you need is that reminder that you want to watch that series ... then when it comes time to watch that series common sense comes into play .

very simple

Where I would especially like to see multi-disc series collapsed is in recommendations. What's the sense of recommending just certain seasons of a TV series?

Because some seasons are better than others.

Fair enough. My thinking was that I would never start off watching, for instance, seasons 2 and 5 of The Sopranos. But maybe most people would. For myself I always start with the 1st season to follow it in sequence. If I started with season 2 and liked it, then I would want to see season 1 but not like it being out of order.
But it's not a huge problem. It just sometimes has been a bit annoying seeing lot of recommendations, then realizing they are mostly several different season of a few series, making it a bit tougher to sort through the entries.

I'm like you, I want to watch start to finish and in the proper order, but honestly, there's a bunch of shows out there you can watch out of order with no "ill effects". Frasier or The Simpsons come to mind. Star Trek and even NYPD Blue to a certain extent.

Then you could mark seasons 2-whatever as "not interested" and dig them up later when you've finished the first season and queue them.
