Depends... How are you sending the signal to your 52 screen? Not all the Netflix ready devices support HD streams, and even if they do the ability to stream it to your device will depend on your sustainable internet connection, and your ISP's willingness to stick to truth in advertising.

If you have a PC with a generic video card, or a slower rated speed, you wont get the best stream. If you have an ISP like comcast (who throttles) or Time Warner with their RoadRunner (with their damned boost technology) you wont get a consistent high quality stream either.

I can connect my PC to my 50 inch HDTV (using a DVI to HDMI cable) and to be honest, with a little tweaking of the settings, the image is acceptable, except for the occasional quilting I experience (which is due to roadrunners boost technology), and I only have a 2Mbps connection and usually only get the 500 bit stream.

Not to say it couldn't be considered a little blurry, but you have to be sitting right in front of it to really notice, it more like old VHS quality then blu ray quality.

I have a Monster HDMI 1.3a high speed cable. I's definitely got the bandwidth capable of delivering anything netflix has to offer. And, im streaming from the computer, not a netflix device. My internet connection is the best my cable service has the to off, and i download and upload files all day, and my bandwidth is honest, i get what i pay for, 1.2 MByte down, 125Kbyte up (10mb down, 1mb up). My Video card is steller. Its a Nvidia GTX Dual GPU 295. Best card on the market this year.

Actually DVD's dont even look clear on my TV, there is blotchyness and blurryness. The only thing that looks good is 1080i and 1080p... all else is pretty noticeable degradation

Well see, there you go :) IW on PC doesn't support HD (yet) the best stream (2Mbps or 4 bars) will give you good SDVD quality.

HiDef support is really just starting to take hold in the PC world, and Im sure it will catch up with IW, though as to when? Your guess is as good as mine. There are so many different IW capable devices that PC support may actually dwindle, as the focus shifts toward players and HDTV's that connect directly, (without the need of a PC in the middle).

First you blamed Netflix...

When is netflix going to provide higher quality instant viewing?

Then you stated your internet connection...

1.2 MByte down, 125Kbyte up

That is pretty slow for higher quality Instant watching.
And finally, you wrote this little nugget...

Actually DVD's dont even look clear on my TV, there is blotchyness and blurryness.

Is it possible? I mean... could it be that the problem is from your end and not Netflix? If you can't even get a clear picture from a DVD, then the logical assumption would be there is something wrong with your set-up and not Netflix screwing you over.

OH... and as for those Monster cables of yours, if Leo Laporte claims he can't see the difference, then that's good enough for me.

Alan, dude...she's using a MONSTER CABLE. That's the first thing she mentioned and it's easy to understand why....

Those fuckers are expensive, ergo they must be da bomb.

MONSTER, man....MONSTER.

Couple that with...

My internet connection is the best my cable service has the to off

and I can't possibly imagine how this wouldn't be Netflix's fault.

LMAO. I didn't realize you've responded before I edited my response. Google is my friend when it comes to Monster's monstrous cable prices.

posting here was a mistake... i didnt blame anyone for anything. i simply asked when would net flix get higher quality material. ill keep my questions and my comments to myself from now on. this is the second time ive been treated this way (all the sarcastic non helpful BS) and i dont appreciate it at all.

Kristen, it probably was a mistake to post a technical question here as we are just a bunch of movie fans, but you should feel free to post the comments you want to post, just like everyone else will do the same. Sometimes you'll get lucky and someone will have had the same problem and can help you, but sometimes people will go off topic and post snark. It's the internet, you have to take the good with the bad.

I hope you'll stick around and post about movies and Netflix, but again, 99% of the people that post here are not Netflix employees or customer service reps so be prepared to not get an "official" answer all the time.

thanks for the advice. it just feels like they attack me and are really quick to criticize me... putting words in my mouth by claiming that im "blaming netflix" for problems when ive done no such thing. (Mr. "Alan-Not So Nice Not So Helpful" said that one - his user name speaks for itself). and then they top it off by making sarcastic comments about my things. It makes me feel awful and its "not" helpful at all. ill be much wiser in the future about asking any questions here, technical or non technical. it doesn't feel good being someone's punching bag

Well, let's analyze what you originally posted, shall we?

Does any one else have poorer quality with larger screens?

This suggests to me that you are receiving poorer quality from Netflix when using your large screen tv.

When is netflix going to provide higher quality instant viewing?

This part suggests to me that you believe that Netflix is not providing higher quality instant viewing which is why you are receiving poorer quality when you are watching on your big screen tv.

It also suggests to me that you believe your set-up is good as it is and the problem you are experiencing is due to Netflix not providing higher quality instant viewing. ( I won't even touch the part where you go to details about how awesome your set-up is and it couldn't possibly be your fault that you are receiving poor quality pictures.)

Now perhaps I'm reading more into what you wrote but that's what I got from it. If I'm mistaken, then I sincerely apologize. My only point in these sarcastic responses of mine is that sometimes Netflix is not the evil monster a lot of people seem to claim them to be. Sometimes... just sometimes, the problem lies within our own set-ups.

(Mr. "Alan-Not So Nice Not So Helpful" said that one - his user name speaks for itself). and then they top it off by making sarcastic comments about my things.

P.S. If my remarks were enough to scare you from this place. Then consider yourself lucky that the normal villagers with their pitchforks and torches didn't hear wind of this thread.
Kristen, Don't get bend out of shape by anything anybody says to you on here. They're all pretty much douche bags. And they're not even real life douche bags. They're internet douche bags. Water off a ducks back, I say.

I can't really help with your question, I never watch instant watch, I think it makes the baby Jesus cry. Plus I'm in a lot of pain, I think I broke a rib last night after the Yankees won the World Series.

BTW, you ever think about wearrng your hair up? Maybe throw on a little make-up, buy some leather boots?... I'm just throwing ideas out there, that's all.
i have 3 very nice pairs of leather boots. make up.... not so much. i do wear it on occassion but i think im just as cute naturally? and i wear my hair up all the time. love it. or else it would get in my face all day
