Movie UP on Samsung BP P-1600 got stuck after updating firmware

I had the movie UP loaded on my Samsung BP P-1600 when I got the msg to update the firmware. Then the movie got stuck and I'm unable to watch it. I can't even eject it to return to Netflix. Samsung now says I can send the device to be repaired but there is no guarantee that the movie will be returned. Just saw a bunch of reviews stating that movies like UP, The Bee and other Blu-Ray movies from Pixar are having the same problem when you are using B-Ray Live features. Anybody else having the same problem? And what is Netflix saying since they were the ones that recommend this brand in the first place?

Well to be honest you really shouldn't update your firmware with a disc in the device, sometimes firmware updates fix mechanical things too.

Have you tried unplugging the device, waiting a few seconds then plugging it back in? Then power it on to see if the eject mechanism will work? If that doesn't work you "should" be able to take it to any samsung authorized dealer (like Best Buy) and have them eject the movie for you. You should not have to send it in for service.

And what is Netflix saying since they were the ones that recommend this brand in the first place?

Again, no offense intended... but what are they supposed to say? Read the Manual? I'm quite certain it says not to have a disk in the player when doing a firmware update, (along with other warnings)... That is common for any up-datable device like that (not to have disks, or CD's etc in the players).

No offense intended, but you should spend less time playing with sock puppets because you're assuming I have the same intelligence as the one your icon is holding...

The first thing anyone would do is unplug and plug it in when there is a malfunction...even your stupid sock puppet knows that ...no offense intended.

If you owned a BD-P1600, you'd know that the firmware update pops up during every boot-up and there is no warning on screen that you should eject the disk... also, if you own a BD player you'd know that the format is constantly changing and there is no consensus yet for BluRay Java, and the specs keep changing per movie...requiring updates to play them... specifically state of the art ones like UP...

The firmware update isn't LOADING the menu Mr Sock Puppet, nor accepting commands to eject... and considering the MINOR update from 2.03 to 2.04 went smoothly, there was no reason to assume that another minor update would render the whole thing useless. I'm not even sure if the two things are related (firmware / freeze) but for sure, other people are having issues playing Pixar movies with fancy schmancy BD Live...

no offense... but since it is a BD PLAYER, I tried to PLAY a disk... imagine that... using the product post a firmware update to watch a movie...

The authorized dealer SELLS the product... to service it means MAILING it elsewhere... why don't you READ MY POST (perhaps Netflix should say that to you... you know, READ THE POST BEFORE OFFERING "HELP")

Note for the future: No offense = offense... don't bother saying it... or responding next time if its not helpful or respectful.

Wow... What a nasty bitch you are Veruska. I read your post, and by the sound of it you were the typical idiot poster who wanted to blame something Netflix did for their own stupidity.

Lets see how much information did you give anyone... Hmmm...

I had the movie UP loaded on my Samsung BP P-1600 when I got the msg to update the firmware.

Suggests you had just inserted the disk into the player, and got the message to upgrade the firmware WHICH if you knew anything is for all intents the operating system of your player, they do not just plug new bits in with an update (irregardless if its a major or minor update), the whole thing is rewritten (this is why they warn you (in the instruction manual) not to unplug it, turn it off and why you should eject any disks BEFORE starting an update...).

Then the movie got stuck and I'm unable to watch it. I can't even eject it to return to Netflix.

No helpful information whatsoever, yet you expected someone to help you or offer suggestions or advice...

The firmware update isn't LOADING the menu Mr Sock Puppet, nor accepting commands to eject...

That statement just supports how little you know. The firmware would be what loads the menu and would be what sends the eject command from the button (or remote control) to the mechanism that ejects the disk.

Try looking up the definition of Firmware before you assume you know what you are talking about.

Samsung now says I can send the device to be repaired but there is no guarantee that the movie will be returned.

Oh and before you get all righteous toward someone who is trying to help.

Any authorized dealer that also provides service (repairs) can provide warranty service for your product. Just because Samsung customer service said you have to mail it, doesn't mean you have to mail it.

But if your reply here is ANY indicator how you interact with people who are tying to help you, then I can see why they told you that.

Samsung requires constant firmware updates. That is just a fact of life.

Sock Puppet is a very helpful member of this lunacy we call NFC and you have taken offense when none was given.

You owe sock an apology.

The N-B should apologize for even bringing up this subject in the first place. Just WTF did she expect... help... suggestions... an ass kissin... what? Don't ask if you don't want an honest answer and don't expect anyone to kiss your ass either. You could add stupid to your new nickname.
