I have written a little program that modifies the Netflix website so that you can add a little note next to each movie in your queue. Useful for reminding yourself why you added a movie.
It only works if you are using Firefox as your web browser. It works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The notes are stored on your own computer, NOT in the "cloud" (the Internet). This unfortunately means that you can't see the notes if you log in from another computer. Hey Netflix, please make my program obsolete by implementing a Notes feature as a native part of the website! :-)
To download and install it, go here. (Updated 11/3/08 with a new version, to fix problems caused by changes that Netflix made to their website.)
It's brand new. If you go to this script's page on userscripts.org, you can track the number of downloads (which is only 15 as of this writing, since it's new).
As I said on the web page, I'd love it if Netflix implemented something like this natively -- that way it would work in all browsers, and also the notes could be entered on one computer and then read on other computers.
About a year ago, I realized that it made sense for me to just carry around a 4GB flash drive all the time so I wouldn't have any problems with data - I.E. computer specific data, or data I didn't want out on the internet.
It's about 12 hours since the last post, and am wondering, has anyone thought about downloading this? Does this interest anyone here? I'm asking because I'm skeptical of anything new, in general.
Yesss! I too must herald the genius of this add-on. I added it to Firefox 2.x for MacOS. See ya. I'll be busy now adding notes to some of the titles while I still remember why I added them to my queue.
The only notes I would want to add are to movies not in my queue. For example I have already seen it having rented it from another service. Usually Netflix 'not interested' serves the purpose.
