This is regarding the page with all the friends sliders and your own at the bottom...
It used to be that anything I rated would show up there continually (non-Netflix would show up next day and Netflix discs would show up when returned.) For the past week or so, only discs I have actually rented, or things I have instantly watched, are updating there. Is this something new or a glitch? If it's intentional, I'm disappointed, as I liked sharing movies I'd watched from other sources as well.
Too funny; I just added a discussion about this . . . seconds later, I saw yours so I shut mine down. I agree--non-Netflixed flicks are not showing up! I am with ToxicDon--I want ALL my rated movies to appear. I see far more non-Netflix movies than I do Netflix rentals.
Another thing I've noticed: back when ALL movies showed up on the slider, non-Netflixed movies would fall off after about 3 months. I can't see any purpose for them to discriminate against non-rentals, so maybe it's a programming oversight.
The slider says "Watched/Rated." It used to include movies you rated but did not necessarily rent from Netflix. I watched The Jackal about a week ago, rated it, reviewed it, sent a message on it, but it has yet to show up in this slider. The change, for the worse if you ask me, is that in the past it would show up in this slider so my Netflix friends would be able to see what I've watched/rated whether it was from Netflix or not.
Some, but not all of my recent not NF-rented, are showing up in the slider, for instance Tokyo Sonata (which I watched in a theatre and rated Sunday) is there. But then, some of my NF-rented are also missing, like Come and See (which I rated Sunday). I conclude that the slider has problems other than the issue of rental.
Another new problem with the slider that I've noticed is that my history only goes back a couple of months before I get an "END OF LIST" message. Before all this mess started, the slideshow used to go back all the way to my very first Netflix rental.
I noticed that too. I wonder if holding so many movies there was using up too much bandwidth or putting strain on the system (the slider seemed to get a lot slower the further back you went.) I'd like to see the whole history come back, if possible.
Agreed. The Community section always seems to have SOMETHING wrong with it at any given time, and I'd imagine it sucks up a lot of bandwidth with all the bells and whistles they keep adding.
