Since it seems that Christopher Nolan tends to think outside the box in casting the Batman films; I have a few ideas and would love feedback for a few Characters...be it Catwoman and The Riddler. My Ideas for Catwoman are: Angelina Jolie or Ali Larter (Nikki/Jessica on Heros). For The Riddler, my thinking would be Johnny Depp or Justin Bartha (Riley from National Treasure 1 & 2)
does anyone have some big name, or out of the box casting ideas?
Someone once mentioned Michael Emerson for the Riddler (he's Benjamin Linus from LOST), and I thought that had possibilities... of course, Depp would rock it as well, methinks. Just so that rumor about Eddie Murphy playing Riddler is finally killed. What a disaster that would be...
I hope they do not try and resurrect the Joker character with a new actor.
And I'd much rather see Bane as a character than Catwoman...
Nah, I just find him amusing, that's all. I ripped this off his DVD and edited it together, but most of the DVD is unfunny. The "on the street" parts were really the funny parts. The stage show and the skits are pretty weak.
Still, he's got the green outfit, so he seems a natural to play the Riddler. Just slap a big question mark on his arse and he's ready to go.
i had a stroke of genius a while back concerning how the joker could be pulled off with another actor. it's a bit lengthy, though, so i'll share if anyone actually cares.
i know he's sort of turned it down already, or at least denied having been asked, but phillip seymour hoffman always impresses me, and can capture the kind of malice that a good batman villain needs. (although, even though it's what he was assumed to be considered for, i think he'd work as another villain besides penguin).
i don't necessarily have anything against johnny depp, but i think he's overrated and has a fan base that thinks he's suited for any role whatsoever, with which i disagree. i'd rather see someone else.
angelina has the sex appeal, but not the acting chops to pull off a decent catwoman. i'd be disappointed if that was what happened.
i have always admired guy pearce, and think he could make a very good riddler- crazy, obsessed, and violent. nolan has worked with him before, and might again.
another one in sort of the same vein is tim roth. guess i have a tendency, like nolan, to go uk.
mainly what i'd be happy for is either relatively unknown or underrated actors to prove themselves, or, like heath, some out-in-left-field choice that turns out to have been a stroke of genius. for that, i'm going to nominate my dark horse: john cusak. i like him, he's always been good in comedic roles, and i have faith in his acting skills.
as for actresses for catwoman or whomever the possible villainess is, i really have no decent suggestions. most of the actresses i like skill-wise are either too high-profile or too glamorous for a gritty, nasty role like this. but, again, a dark horse choice, i'll put rachel mcadams out there
those were well thought out choices. As far as Johnny Depp goes; I was once not a big fan of his, until I saw him play 3 completely different types of characters, all done very convinceingly, then I started to see some of his other works; the man is truely a gifted actor. The movies that sold me on him were Pirates of the Caribean, Secret Window, and Finding Neverland.
i liked him in pirates and secret window, but i'm sorry, i really hate finding neverland. it's just one of those movies i guess i "don't get".
also, the role that really pushed me over the edge with him was willy wonka. i have no idea how this movie got so much praise, and he turned wonka into this creepy, michael jackson-esque freak. i don't care how many fans say it wasn't true to the original, gene wilder was much more mysterious, kooky, and magical. he IS willy wonka.
got sidetracked there. anyway, depp actually isn't a bad choice for batman. in fact, that's kind of why i doubt nolan will go to him- he seems like too obvious of a choice. if that makes sense.
