A Netflix Community

Hi--pretty new to the forums but not new to Netflix and have been poking around both places trying to get an answer (that even my brain can understand!) about how second Q's work. My kids are clammering for a Q of their own and was wondering if I added them a profile how does the shipping of movies from the Q work? Is there one Q that is considered the priority over the other--would movies from my Q ship first and then from their Q? Any help would be appreciated and I apologize if this appears to be a real stupid question. :)

Hi Julieg, welcome to the community. Just want to say how nice it is to meet a newbie that doesn't post only complaint discussions. Thanks for that! :D

So about profiles, the main profile is the "primary" so it would take priority. Just go to "My Account" and then click on "account profiles" and from there you can edit number of DVDs and maturity level for the different profiles you set up. Since each profile is seperate, whenever a movie is returned from any profile, that's when the new one in that queue would ship. So if you return a movie from your own profile/queue, you will get your next available movie shipped. If a movie from your kids' profile/queue is returned, they would get their next available movie, etc.

Also of note, additional profiles don't have IW capability so if the kids want to watch movies online they'll have to use your main profile. Sucks, but that's the way it is (for now).

Let me add that when you set up a new profile/queue you're asked how many of your discs will be assigned to each queue. So if you are on the 4-out plan, you can assign 2+2 (two movies from each queue, assuming you have two queues), 3+1 or 4+0 (which will render one queue inactive, nice if someone is out of town, you can then assign remaining movies to someone else). That way you get to decide how many movies the kids have at home.

I wouldn't hesitate to start a new separate queue for the kids, as long as you remember to set the appropriate maturity levels. You, as primary account holder, can also access the other queues (log on as them) and edit them if needed, so you still have control.

LOL---I've gotten a load of just about everyone. Unlike most noobs--I tend to read EVERYTHING before I jump in head first. :)

Someone who reads before posting? Someone who's aware of the existence of profiles? Wow, where have you been all this time???

What the... where the... how the...? HEY. Don't do that! We're not used to newbies having a clue when they get here. Now, how the hell am I going to make fun of you?

I'll get you my pretty... and your dog too.

I know...I know, it's a silly habit I have--actually getting to know the process before jumping in. Well, now that I'm here there's no getting rid of me (or my dogs either). I like it here way too much. :)
