Anyone else get cheesed about this or is it just me? People who post reviews about movies that haven't been released yet. I understand that most films are pre-screened but there are quite often reviews that say things like "I haven't seen this film yet, but the trailer looks great." or my favorite " I read the book and they'd better not screw this one up."
An example - there's a review up for Speed Racer that goes like this "I saw the trailer for this movie in the theatre when I went with some friends and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks. It looked really good. Can't wait for it to come out!"
I know there's an option to flag the review as "not a review" but seems to never work. I assume that it takes more than one person flagging to remove it, but anyone know just how many it takes to remove it?
Hey Folks, If you haven't joined the "Reviews that Aren't Reviews" group, you may want to check out what a great job Wowee is doing in getting an organized front for attacking these non-reviews.
I invite you to join the group and post your links to non-reviews in there. It's a one-stop-shop with links to all the Netflix non-reviews, plus we can see that our actions are actually helping get those non-reviews removed.
I agree, any review of a movie is helpful, if it is actually a movie. Waiting for DVD release would cut out the true movie fan who sees movies on opening night. I love to hear from them as they are usually very involved and have better than average reviews.
They need to tighten up their flagging feature so it actually works..... its completely automated so when a review gets a particular amount of complaints it disappears from view.... but the number of flags needed is too high. I have flagged reviews with disgusting language and come back months later to find it still there.
It looks like action taken from this discussion and from other NF members have removed quite a few reviews from these pre-release movies. It may take a while, but if you point it out there seem to be many people that will help take care of them.
That drives me insane. Between "the DVD wouldn't play, send another" and "it didn't say it was subtitled" even though it clearly does, I'm constantly flagging review to no avail.
My favorite is a reviewer who complained about being exposed to a naked breast - in a documentary about pregnancy and fetal development! I'm surprised she wasn't offended by the naked children shown throughout the film.
Yes, I just read someone's review for the Ben Affleck directed flick, and someone was complaining about the state of films and the use of foul language. Well, stop going to see films then. It's called authenticity. People do talk like this.
