Anyone else get cheesed about this or is it just me? People who post reviews about movies that haven't been released yet. I understand that most films are pre-screened but there are quite often reviews that say things like "I haven't seen this film yet, but the trailer looks great." or my favorite " I read the book and they'd better not screw this one up."
An example - there's a review up for Speed Racer that goes like this "I saw the trailer for this movie in the theatre when I went with some friends and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks. It looked really good. Can't wait for it to come out!"
I know there's an option to flag the review as "not a review" but seems to never work. I assume that it takes more than one person flagging to remove it, but anyone know just how many it takes to remove it?
Hey Folks, If you haven't joined the "Reviews that Aren't Reviews" group, you may want to check out what a great job Wowee is doing in getting an organized front for attacking these non-reviews.
I invite you to join the group and post your links to non-reviews in there. It's a one-stop-shop with links to all the Netflix non-reviews, plus we can see that our actions are actually helping get those non-reviews removed.
If you visit the 10,000 B.C. page, you'll see just one "review". It's just like you said, where the writer says something about the trailer and so forth. It currently has a 0 out of 27 people found this helpful rating. I can only assume that all 27, or at least a good majority of them flagged it as not being a review. And yet, it's still there.
On the very last page of the reviews for Blade Runner: The Final Cut, some person has ranted about not being sent the right disc. It has a 1 our of 35 people... rating. And yet, it's still there.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Netflix needs to automatically remove all reviews which have been flagged x amount of times, placing them into a "holding area", away from public view, until a CS rep can asses it. "X amount of flags" should be relatively low, in my opinion. 5, or so.
If this is starting to become a big problem, maybe people can continue to post new movies where people have put reviews before they have been released.
Silly questions, but who the heck puts a helpful rating on some of these reviews? Why is "I got the wrong disk" a helpful review?
I flagged some on Indianna Jones and Be Kind Rewind. Maybe if they get enough not helpful ratings they will get the idea that people don't appreciate this kind of non-review. There was one with 53 not helpful still not removed.
My oldest kid works at a movie theather and I have been to a few sneak previews that most don't see.I have also reviewed movies that I've seen some where other than Netflix.
I agree that is rather irksome. My solution is as follows, only allow reviews for films that are out on DVD. I am an avid reviewer on my website but maybe I should consider re posting my reviews on NetFlix for films that have been released on DVD.
