Honestly, I'm having a hard time believing Dark Knight will do anything beyond a nomination for Ledger. Do you guys really think it's worthy of a best picture nod, much less a win? Seriously? I mean, it was a good movie, but had some substantial flaws in my estimation. I certainly don't want to trash-talk a basically enjoyable film, but I hardly think it's worth a Best Picture nomination. The Batman Voice alone is enough to move it out of contention, in my book, lol.
I loved Ledger's performance, so not to score an Actor nomination would be a crime. But to win? Don't know yet... haven't seen enough current releases to feel I could give a fair assessment.

As I said earlier I think TT and Robert Downey Jr. deserve recognition. I'd like to see Ben Stiller and Nick Nolte get nominations too. Four Leaf Tayback was the best character in TT. His line "I don't know the name of the gun, I just know the sound it makes when it takes a man's life". That's brilliant!
Also, I'd like to see Heath Ledger win for best supporting actor. Aaron Eckhart was great in Dark Knight too. Although I really liked the movie, Batman's voice just kept me from really liking Bale this time. I'd like to see Burn After Reading get noticed, too. That movie is hilarious. Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and George Clooney should all get nominations in my opinion as well as the Coens for writing and directing it.
Sean Penn as Milk will win as best actor and Frost / Nixon will be a big one for nominations. I haven't seen them but from the reviews they are getting and the fact that the Oscars really like "true stories" I think they will be hot movies for awards. Penn is golden and deserves every Oscar nomination he recieves.
I think what Frost/Nixon has going for it are the two principal leads having so much on stage experience with the roles before they were cast in the same roles for the film. I'm looking forward to that film.
Sean Penn makes me vomit. Similar to Alec Baldwin... they both can really act when they want to, but their real-life politics ruin the immersion for me now. I can't just watch him anymore without my brain going "That's Sean Penn" instead of "That's a character in a movie." I really liked Penn in 21 Grams, I know he's a strong actor... it's hard for me to see through his nauseating politics and actually see him ply his trade anymore.
If he does win, here's a preview of his speech: "Bush is an Imperialist A-hole! Viva la revolucion! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to give my homey Chavez a call..."
The reason I can't stand Sean Penn is because he's Sean Penn...
Also because he typically stars in those boring-ass movies that come out at the end of the year and only exist for the Oscar nominations. But I guess that ties into the whole "Being Sean Penn" thing...
Yep he sucks except that movie were he played the retard, he did really well tho not a beast performance by far from what ive seen the guy who plays Bush in the movie W. being the biggest idiot award.
Also like Nick Cage in whatever movie he did this year?
Never saw Cage as beiing anything other than funny and don't like all his drama roles, i must say i was addicted to this one movie he did for awhile, i don't recall the name other than it had helicopters in it.
