Sorry, I found Yakuza to be racist and condescending, with little understanding of the Japanese people and their heritage. Mitchum especially, that "who are these damn Japs?" vibe was in every scene. And Pollack admitted as much in the extras somewhere.

The Criterion treatment is very good on both picture and sound, so the movie is wholly intact.

But I would advise anybody to see it with todays' sensibilities before rendering judgment from old memories. It certainly does not belong in the same paragraph as Friends of Eddie Coyle or Three Days of the Condor. Those hold up exceedingly well.
I watched the BBC miniseries Torchwood: Children of Earth (coming out on DVD 7/28) and was just captivated. I'm a fan of the series but you don't have to know that much about the show to be entralled in this mini-series. It's a 5 hour investment but worth it if you're a fan of sci-fi and suspense. Good stuff (4 stars).

Visioneers - I totally "got" what they were going for - a dark comedy satire of the "rat race" all office drones have felt we've been a part of at some point in our lives mixed in with some 1984 overtones - but I just didn't think they pulled it off very well. Zach Galifianakis and Judy Greer are competely wasted here. It just seemed like a big setup that didn't go anywhere. All bark no bite. 2 stars.
