Fox has given Joss Whedon's Dollhouse the ax after getting a second season by the skin of its teeth due to its cult following. They're expected to finish the 13 episode order and Whedon wants to go out with a bang giving the show a real grand finale.

All produced episodes of Dollhouse will begin airing on December 4th

I love Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but to be totally honest - This one just doesn't look very good at all...

Very excited, but also very cautious. I just don't think Whedon is destined to have a long-lasting show, and it certainly doesn't help that this is on cancel-happy Fox.

We shall see :)

How many shows (or chances) are they going to give to poor Eliza before one hits? ;)

Very excited! Have been following the boards and progress for over a year. I am really sorry that it was scheduled for the Friday kiss of death. I think it looks good and hope it succeeds.

scheduled for the Friday kiss of death

I know was thinking the exact same thing.

It sucks, Friday shows never do well. I am wicked excited though. I am going to be working so hard to shut the kids up so I can watch it. I am babysitting for twin 9 year old girls that night....

I'll watch any show Joss puts out so I am looking forward to Dollhouse, but I don't think the chances are very good that it will last. The premise sounds interesting but aren't we gonna get tired of watching Eliza play so many different characters? At least on Alias, Jennifer Garner was one person most of the time in addition to all the undercover stuff she did.

Sigh. I still wish they would bring back Firefly. :(

The series isn't just going to focus on Eliza... there are other Actives and Whedon has mentioned that he'll explore stories involving other people, including the ones that hire out the Actives.

((HUGS)) will we ever stop mourning the loss of Firefly????

On a funny note regarding that, my 11 year old was trying to pick out a movie the other day. He had is down to Armageddon, The Core, or Hitchhiker's Guide. He sat there reading the backs and going through them for about 10 minutes and then put them all back on the shelf and grabbed Serenity; which he has seen a couple dozen times.

I asked him about it and he replied that it had been a while since he had seen Serenity and needed to watch it again so he can correctly review the other movies!

Only in my house would an 11 year old use Serenity as a basis of comparison against all other SciFi movies....

That's awesome.

I had never watched Firefly when it was first-run. I'm not a big television guy. I caught a couple episodes a year or so after it had been canceled and quickly became addicted. So I ended up joining the many legions of crying fans wishing for it's return also.

I think FOX is taking more of a chance this time and it seems that it's willing to give Whedon a chance. The Friday slot, while it isn't great, it gives Whedon and FOX to find an audience. (I hope the audience shows up).

To me, it looks like another extension of Whedon's exploration of what shapes a person's identity and is it something that can be programmed or changed.

I'm ready for it... My Friday nights are booked: Terminator, Dollhouse and Battlestar (my daughters are going to get away with so much stuff).

My DVR is set. I'm new to the Whedon-love -- just starting Season 5 of Buffy and never seen Angel or Firefly -- but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'm curious, is any night really the kiss of death now that DVRs and Tivo have become more prevalent? I'm sure it would help if they start figuring for technology in their numbers, of course. For instance, Friday night I'll be recording Dollhouse as well as 13-Fear is Real at the same time, then DVRing the midnight airing of the new Monk -- so technically the Nielsen people should count me once for each of those shows, right? But I'll be out and not watching any of the three as they air, either.
