Thanks Wow Wee, for taking the time to try to organize the existing groups. Is your Index here going to be the only way that members can search for groups? I don't see a way to enter tags or do a search.
In Re: to 'actors and directors' perhaps you could simplify by making it a 'group dedicated to individuals. that way it could also include writers (the fans of Stephen King), producers, etc.
I also think it would be more exact to have a section for specific movies (Godfather, Bladerunner) vs. genres (Film Noir, Wormhole Xtreme). The more I think about it, I believe it would make the most sense to create your own broad generic genres and/or subgenres as they exist on the Netflix site, otherwise you will be subject to the whim of how users define them. For example, under an index 'Genres', list Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror (alphabetically); then list the links under a heading such as Horror: Cheesy B Horror, Creepy Movies, Gore hounds.
BTW: Firefly is a TV show, Serentiy is a movie derived from it -so I would cross list as both.
Gosh, what a difficult undertaking - you've got your work cut out for you
Thanks again :)
Request for: Wormhole Xtreme!
I would prefer to have the SCI-FI Forum 'Wormhole Xtreme' placed in a GENRE related group because it is not catered to movies; it involves TV, film, themes, special effects, directors, and more. I believe that this would make it easier for people to see groups in a related field. Instead of someone needing to look up each movie or show seperately/alphabetically, and perhaps looking under S for Sci-fi and thinking no general group exists, they could reference all genre related groups.
If you look at the top of every page, on the right side at the top of the start of the discussion, you'll see tags. Problem with it though, once created, only the person creating it, can delete it. So it needs to be used carefully.
Thanks and good luck with the organization!
This is hopefully going to be a group effort too. Where people, like what you're doing, will chip in and give suggestions. I enjoy this type of thing, so I hope it works out as "planned" and it will be helpful.
I suggest, that, everyone invite their friends to join.
As mentioned on the front page of tis group, "it's under construction". I haven't updated in a long while. I'm looking for people to help out in any way. I even created a group for this purpose to discuss ideas to make it better and workable; so far there hasn't been any that works. If you or anyone is interested, let me know.
This was a good idea when it first started, then it got to be too much for one person.
super organized? not at all. GMAIL does it all for me, unlimited filters is truly a great tool. Now if only I can take that and use it to clean up my appt etc.
