Fans are those who you simply want to follow for their reveiws, ratings, similarity to you or even because of their ranking value. I'm always adding and removing fans as is also done to me which I don't even think about. It's anonymous and there are no right and wrong ways of handling them.

Friends (not anonymous ones) on the other hand are those who you know.

I have many anonymous friends....including you! Should I just drop them all? And what of my other questions?

You need to decide for yourself if those who you have as "faves" are worthwhile in keeping. When you reach a certain amount of faves, it may not be so easy to keep up with them therefore, it makes sense to clean up the list to keep those you wish to keep up with.

As to your other questions:

Friends: If they are people who you know in person, and you want them to be in the loop etc. then I don't see why not. I don't have any in this category.

Anonymous Friends: I don't use this feature or the above one either, so I don't know the criteria that would be a gauge to drop them. Perhaps someone who uses these features could comment on this. Notes is included in this, I don't use them.

Do some Friends use their access to your viewed films and queue to boost their ranking vis-a-vis yours?

Friends, Faves or anyone who comes across your profile and adds a movie to their Q and receives it helps out your ranking and vice versa.

I don't think there is a better or worse between friends and faves.
