Old Boy by Chan Wook Park
After being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in 5 days. Awesome Korean film. There are a couple more by the same director, also good.

Black Book was one of the best films I've seen this year. About the Dutch Resistance to the Nazi occupation.

The Dardenne brothers have made some great films and Le Fils (The Son) is one of them. If you liked it, I would highly recommend L'Enfanttoo. The tension is sometimes in the things we don't see on the screen. I always try to keep in mind that the director is showing us an image for a particular reason, even if that image seems to contradict the dialogue or serve no narrative purpose. If we look beneath the surface their films are always intersting and emotionaly violent.

I just finisished watching the movie "White", part of the "three colors trilogy-Red, Blue, and White". I loved "Red", and "Blue", but I could not understand the ending of "White". Does anyone think they know what happens at the end?

Before The Rain (Milcho Manchevski, 1994) is FINALLY coming out on DVD next month (6/24) from Criterion. I love this film: 3 crosscutting stories that end up tying together in the end. There are others to name, but I see it as a clear forerunner of Inarratu's work (Amores Perros, Babel), and other recent 'converging storyline' films.
Not the main point/story, but it also ended up enlightening me to the underlying LONG term strife in the former Yugoslav states.
