Here are some combinations of what will help to contribute in landing yourself as part of the top rankers:
1. A lot of ratings & lists (0 reviews)
2. A lot of reviews & lists (relatively few ratings. Ex. reviews = amount of ratings)
3. Members adding movies from your lists/5 star ratings etc. and receiving them.
4. A lot of ratings & reviews.
Ways to boost rankings (And do your fellow Netflixers a service)
1. Rate all the films you have seen. More ratings mean higher ranking and help Netflix identify other movies you and your friends will enjoy.
2. Write good reviews of lesser known movies. Helpful ratings boosts rank. However movies that are reviewed thousands of times have little or no effect on rank. Bad reviews do not help your cause so spend time to make sure that your reviews will benefit the reader.
3. Write good Top Ten Lists. Unique lists that benefit Netflix users will boost rankings. Movies added to queues from your lists will have a positive effect on your rank.
4. Use the Notes feature to tell your friends about movies you enjoy. Movies added to queues from your notes will move you up the ranking ladder.
I only have 151 reviews and none of them are rated particularly high (I've seen several reviews with hundreds or thousands of helpfuls). But I tend to write reviews of movies that don't have a ton of reviews or ratings because that's what I watch.
Plus I have 80 lists because I find that creating a list is a great way to waste time when you have nothing to do at work. :)
I'm with you on this too. I only have 82 reviews but they tend to be of a lot of obscure films. Plus I have 17 lists, while only a few of them are probably helpful (Something Weird, Franco, Kung Fu etc.) I think that helps me get up there. I was 191 last week so I will see where I'm at this week, although I have 5 reviews to write this week yet!
You know the more I read you comments the more I like you. I usually only review stuff way off the mainstream. I also write many one or two star reviews . Mostly because i watch a lot of crap. Micro ! One mans treasure is another mans trash. Just like we felt about Jesus camp. Check it out I left you some notes tonight. Peace out friend---- Rev.
I agree. Another less honest way is to add several friends b/c alot of them will mark your reviews as helpful sort of as a friend courtesy. Myself, I only mark them as helpful if they are, but alot of other people do that for their friends.
