Why no discussions about Torchwood? Anyone watching this series? There's only one episode left and it's not going to air until April 4 and I'm a little wigged out about that. I think Torchwood may have passed Doctor Who in my faves list. Of course, when Doctor Who starts up again on April 5 I'll be saying the same thing, but in reverse. :)

Anywhoodle, the big question on my mind is... what happens to Owen? Does he just go on like that, all dead and falling apart whenever he hurts himself? He'd better be careful or he might lose something important.

I'm watching it on HDNet which is a couple episodes behind BBC.

I have Doctor Who starting on Sci-Fi Channel on April 18. You watching it on a different channel?

No, sorry, I'm on jampony time. I'm one of those horrible people acquiring the three shows by illegal means. It started innocently enough. Someone from the UK posted on a message board that we were in for a treat in the future and I just couldn't wait to find out what it was and now I have to keep doing it to keep up with him so we can chat about the episodes. I'll be careful about spoilers, though.

What's HDNet? A cable channel? I don't have an HD TV yet and I'm not really sure I want to see Captain Jack in high def. The Doctor, maybe, but Jack frightens me a little... on Torchwood, anyway. On Doctor Who he's just a nut job. :)

Yes, HDNet is an HD only channel. Mostly movies, but some TV shows too. Jack looks fairly good in HD, much of the rest of the cast doesn't though. BBC America has some of the worst quality SD so I am willing to put up with the delay to watch it in HD.

Dr.Who isn't recorded in HD (don't know if they have changed that yet), but it looks pretty good on Sci-Fi channel anyway.

As for Torchwood, I like the show, but I don't love it. I have a hard time warming up to most of the characters. Just about every one of them has done something pretty deplorable at one time or another. Tosh is the only decent one in the bunch. I do think it has improved over season 1 though.

I happened upon Season 1 of Torchwood and was shocked at how much more I like it than Dr Who. I had never heard of it. It just seems a little smarter and funnier and less silly. I'm desperate to see season 2. Any idea when it will come out on DVD? Since it just finished airing, I'm surprised it isn't at least in the Save category on Netflix. Obviously I can't help you with the Owen question as I have no opinion being a season behind and all......

A date hasn't been announced yet for American dvd release of Season 2, but I would guess around September.

WARNING: BIG SPOILERS ABOUT THE END OF SEASON 2

I just watched the last episode yesterday and I was rather surprised to see them kill off 2 characters. Sadly Tosh was the only character that wasn't scuzzy. Everyone else has done a lot of immoral stuff. I just have a hard time seeing them as heroes. They are often as bad or worse than the bad guys. I won't much miss Owen, though I was liking him better after he became undead. Jack is the only one I find myself still liking despite all his many flaws.

All that said, I still plan to watch the next season. I just hope I like whoever they bring in as replacements. Assuming they bring in replacements. They might decide to make Rhys a part of the team. He hasn't done much deplorable yet, but he still doesn't appeal to me much. They may also give Andy (Gwen's cop friend) a bigger role. He doesn't have much personality yet, but they could fix that if they want. Or, maybe they will just bring Tosh and Owen back to life.

I suppose they could bring Martha back to replace Owen. I hadn't though about her since when she left TW I had assumed she was going back to Dr.Who.

Oh, I'm so glad you finally watched it. I felt so bad when, back in March, you said Tosh was the only decent one and then they went and killed her off.

I think the fact that they are kind of immoral is what makes me like the show. They think they're doing good things but as humans they kind of suck. But I'm not sure I liked season 2 better than season 1. The stories were good and I liked seeing some more character development but I think I liked it last year so much because it was fresh and new. Season 2 was just more of the same. Kind of like Desperate Housewives or Gray's Anatomy. Yawn. Bored now. But one thing's for sure, somewhere between Season 1 and Season 2 Eve Myles took some lessons at the Over Acting Academy of Great Britain; the same place David Tennant attended, I believe.

I wonder what's going on with Freema Agyeman and Doctor Who. Maybe Catherine Tate will hang out at DW and Freema will take up with TW? I'm not in love with any of the other characters (Rhys or Andy) but it would be fun if Martha joined the cast. They do need a new doctor now, right?

Torchwood looked like a series I'd enjoy so I rented the first season dvd from NF and watched it this weekend. It was ok. I was really impressed by the alien in the first show - excellent make up. I've seen a few more episodes now.

I'm not going to read the posts on here until I'm finished with the series but I'm on episode 6 and I'm really liking it a lot!! Episode 4 raised this series from a 3 to a 4 star for me. It keeps getting better as I watch. Probably because I "know" the characters better each time.

I haven't seen all the Doctor Who shows and this is making me want to go back and watch them all in order.

Just wanted you to know you have a convert.

Well, well. Torchwood Season 2. I found it online and just finished it. Hummm I liked Season 1 and the first shows in Season 2. When I got to Reset and thereafter the shows seemed less interesting but I forced myself to finish watching. What was the point in Season 2 of Captain Jack coming on to Gwen and every man that he came in contact with. Would I feel secure with this group in charge of keeping my city free of negative alien activity? They are so emotional and social I have my doubts. I'd take the Doctor over the Captain any day. I feel like the characters in Torchwood have little character and it seemed like the writers just did things without continuity to me. The whole dead Owen was just odd. It worked well when he had no breath in the one show but I just didn't see the point. Would they make him undead for that upcoming show? Why? Then they kill him? I agree with Baff that Tosh was the most likable character in the show. The deplorable condition they keep Janet in. I felt sad for her. This is a series I'm glad I saw but wouldn't go out of my way to see again. I've read conflicting reports about a Season 3. If they have one I'll watch it. I'd give the series overall 3 stars - it was ok. Some shows were really creative and I still think the Weevils' makeup is excellent.

"Would I feel secure with this group in charge of keeping my city free of negative alien activity?"

I wonder that just about every episode. They are often as bad as whoever they are fighting. Jack is supposed to be the eternal protector of mankind, but he rarely acts like it.

That island where they keep the people who come back from the rift was disgusting. They should let the people just live on the streets, it's cleaner. Of course, their Torchwood office is in a sewer, so maybe that filthy sanitarium looked ok to them. Those cells they keep Janet and others in are nearly as bad.

The main reason I watch the show is because it is part of the Dr. Who universe. I don't hate it, but I'm certainly not excited about it either. If the studios didn't keep canceling all the better shows...

The rumor is that next season will be very different. We shall see.

Paint, plaster, and some toilet facilities in that nasty dungeon are needed. I think Jack uses the budget to wine and dine Ianto and dry cleaning his coat.

So, when Torchwood comes back next season (fall?) what channel plays it?
