The 2007 Christmas Special with Kylie Minogue will air on the SciFi channel Friday, April 18. Better than last year's, not as good as the first, imho.

The fourth series started last week in the UK and will be premiering here Friday, April 25.

I'm very interested in hearing what people think of the new companion. I was really bothered (or should I say "bovvered"?) by the fact that they were bringing back Catherine Tate since she's the only reason I didn't enjoy the 2006 Christmas Special. But I have to say she's not bad. I would even go so far as to say that she's fairly tolerable. (I'm cheating and downloading them before they air, but I promise I'll be careful about spoilers.)

So nobody has anything to say about the Christmas special? No Kylie Minogue/botox jokes? No comments on the new theme? Did anyone even watch the show??? :(

I'd not heard of Kylie before this.

It was ok, but not great. I didn't particularly like the ending.

*Doctor twiddles with teleporter for 3 seconds, trying to save Kylie.
"The teleporter is out of power. Give it up, let her die"
*Doctor gives up. She dies. 5 seconds pass.
"Hey! Lets use the teleporter to zip down to Earth..."

Huh? Power issues aside, since when does the Doctor give up on saving friends just because some random idiot tells him it can't be done? That is when he usually redoubles his efforts.

Very true. I don't know why so many people had to die in that episode. I guess the moral of the story is Christmas sucks in the UK. Or actually, hovering above the UK.

PS: Kylie Minogue remade Little Eva's 1960 hit "Locomotion" in the 80s. I thought everyone knew that! :)

Ok, I'll buy that.

Anyone still watching Doctor Who? Well, if you are here's a friendly warning. Next week's episode is a two-parter and for some reason it appears that the second part won't take place for two weeks. So if you hate "to be continued"s as much as I do, you might want to tivo the episode on the 16th. It's weird that they're not airing normal SciFi shows on the 23rd; no Sarah Jane or BSG, either. We're already three episodes behind the UK and I'm just dying over here, waiting to talk about the episode that comes after this two-parter -- now I have to wait FOUR weeks??!!?? Grrr. Argh!

Heh, thanks for the heads up.

Okay, I waited patiently and The Doctor's Daughter finally aired and now I can post about it. (Stop reading if you're on the west coast -- as I post this, you're only half way through the episode.)

How adorable was Jenny? I haven't seen the original series but Jenny was played by Terry Moffet's daughter (and, according to rumors, is now dating David Tennant. Kinda creepy if I stop to think about it. So I won't.) Does she resemble Terry Moffet at all?

I was so excited to see the end of the episode when she regenerated and flew off into the sunset, so to speak. I think she may show up again towards the end of the season. I was wondering if they created her as a back up plan for when the twelfth doctor dies. Or maybe there will be yet another spin off. She's fun and bubbly and doesn't have that overacting problem that everyone else on DW and TW seem to have (seriously, how much saliva does one person make?!?) -- I'd watch it.

Don't know who Terry Moffett is. Jenny (Georgia Moffett) is the daughter of Peter Davison (the 5th doctor). There is a family resemblance. I'd watch a spin-off about her too.

Hey! I recognize him from the last Children in Need special where the two doctors appear in the tardis at the same time. Well, I recognize the celery stalk. Weird.

So -- who the heck is Terry Moffet??? It's going to drive me crazy trying to figure where I got that name from! :)

You are probably experiencing some time lag. Terry is probably Georgia's future child that is going to appear in a Dr. Who episode 20 years from now.

lol -- I didn't see this until just now. You're probably right!

I still don't know who Terry Moffet is, but Steven Moffat is taking over for Russel T. Davis for the fifth season.
