Recommend Your Favorite Sci-Fi

I'm always on the lookout for good Sci-Fi I haven't seen yet -or at least that I haven't seen for a while.... Let's help each other uncover some of the hidden treasures!

I just want to be entertained and I don't care if it's only by a great story, snappy dialog or just snazzy fx.

Not a movie, but I'll mention it anyway... I'm completely hooked on Torchwood. And of course Doctor Who. I tend to like scifi with good story lines and even better characters (SG1, anything Whedon, etc.) so I haven't really been drawn to many scifi movies lately. I'm looking forward to seeing if anyone else has any suggestions. I've been watching a lot of horror and thriller movies just waiting for that special scifi flick to come along. In both movies I felt like I was only getting half the story. Like the books had all the answers to the questions and if you didn't read them, you were screwed.; ▶ Reply to This

It may be a spin off, but everyone should give it a chance regardless of their opinion of Dr. Who. It just has a different feel to it. I am waiting with bated breathe for season 2 to come out on disc. I hate that it just aired, but I don't have any way to watch it.; ▶ Reply to This

My favorite TV show was Babylon 5 (1st season was a bit weak and the movies are mediocre, but all worth it I think). Also recently enjoyed Dr. Who, Firefly, Dresden Files (fantasy-ish, cancelled, 1/2 season like Firefly), Farscape, Andromeda (except for the last season).

If you want some silly British sci-fi, try out Red Dwarf. Eureka for silly American sci-fi.

The creator of Babylon 5 (J. Michael Straczynski) has been working on creating a new show with "two mega-film
makers". No news about it for a couple months though, so status is unknown.; ▶ Reply to This
