Need some help here, guys and gals. Netflix opted not to stock this microbudget zombie sequel to MonsTURD by some old friends and longtime B-Independent supporters. Infact, after a few weeks in release, NF has only recently added it to their database. To help out my friends, I'm hoping everyone could at least save the title to their queue in hopes that NF might stock at a later date.
Also, if you could please tell your friends, that would be greatly appreciated. It's silly and no-budget, and some folks can't deal with that, but you can always delete it from your queue once its picked up and released through NF.
As for why it wasn't picked up, who can say. A few months ago NF all but stopped carrying titles released through certain labels. It's rare you'll find the new Brain Damage or Sub Rosa releases on NF - RetarDEAD is BD btw.
thanks,
...i've had this thing on the top of my queue forever now, but what do i get instead? The Moon Spinners, starring Haley Mills. The missus has been fuckin' with the list again. damn.
...well, still had Retardead as my number one, it shows it as being available, but instead I'm getting "Platoon of the Dead" instead...maybe one day...
not bad, pretty good for that kinda thing. Their obvious toy laser guns that shot out beams really bothered me though. Really good looking exterior shooting and nice camerawork. Terribly convoluted storyline that smelt of Brian Keene's "The RIsing", at times. Better than most.
Finally got to watch "Retardead" the other day, pretty cool. Jello Biafra shows up and does a little rant. Nice Blue "Dawn Zombies" too, lots gore. I'll write more when i get a chance.
Here's my "formal" review for the official NF site.
"To quickly sum up "Retardead", I'd have to say 'Better than most'. Of course by most I'd be meaning better than the 13,013 other regional shot-on-video zombie yarns that have been coming out for the last few years. For some of you, that sounds terrible, but for the rest of us who live for this kinda thing, "Retardead" is pure fried gold. The zombies are a particular shade of blue made popular in a little film from 1978 called "Dawn of the Dead". Ever hear of that one? "Retardead" is a semi-sequel to the pair of directors previous effort; "Monsturd". It's a terribly witty and fun homage to both the beloved zombie genre, and the misunderstood splatter movie. There's lot's of gore, and it's never boring. The titular "Retardead" individuals, while still terribly offensive, are played with much more dignity than you would expect in a project this size, and thankfully they are also largely gone from the story by the half-way point. It's just a great little zombie movie, that knows what it is, and is having a good time doing it. Watch it. "
