Hey all, I've pretty much abandoned the social aspects of Netflix. I keep a small handful of friends but don't write reviews, care about the ranking thing and have always despised the NF Notebook system.
But I'm still watching movies and would love to share commentary with a few of my old school NF friends who are more interested in the movies and people themselves than sharing votes are chasing some meaningless reviewer rank.
Replacing Netflix for me has been Facebook; the interface is built for social networking so it works much better on any topic and allows such things as more than 50 friends, pictures, games, and so much more. Still with me...? Great, because here's the deal:
Facebook has recently integrated with NF. If you allow Facebook to "see" your Netflix, an entry will be made on your page every time you rate a movie. At that point you can add a comment, write a review (won't be posted on Netflix though if that matters to you...) and then all your FB friends can read and optionally comment. It's really a breath of fresh air as frankly, I could have written a better application myself than that stupid NF Notebook.
If you've got a Facebook account, look me up! I can be found here:

This has been going on for weeks now, and gawd knows how much unadvertised-as-such advertising this has generated for that film. It might be a good one; I just despise the sneaky stealth promotion and hope to discourage it in the future.
