You can however redeem yourself. Real conversations with the residents are welcome. You should see that just your name alone is great advertising. People are ok with a little promotion as long as it's not crammed down the throat... bad taste... ack!
See I would have just made some good friendships and let your name & home page do the advertising, not spam the threads you think would accept you. We like it a bit more personal here. Seriously :)
