I think your idea is crazy and dumb. Sounds like something I would do. List-making is obsessive-compulsive behavior, much the same as hoarding. I've been trying to simplify my life lately and stop collecting so much stuff. At least with Netflix, all…

I'm not going to defend Netflix. It's a business, and their model seems to be working for them. I hate to see Blockbuster suffering because competition is always good, especially for the consumer. I receive most of my new releases soon enough, I gue…

I'm not a regular, but I've been told I'm pretty thick, too.

Office Space. I don't even remember it being in the theaters. It was recommended to me through word-of-mouth and now it's difficult to find anyone who hasn't seen it.

No Time to Say Goodbye, I Say Hello

I discovered a new social network at Thoughts.com. As much as I love Netflix and the people I've met here, the site's always been a little glitchy on my computer, frequently freezing up on me or kicking me off. I don't seem to have that problem on the other site, which seems more blog-friendly as well.

I'll still visit here, I'm sure.

Back from the Real World

I haven't made a blog entry in about nine months. I doubt anyone's missed it. Everyone blogs these days. Everyone's on Facebook except me (and I don't want to be, even though the chairwoman of my class reunion committee keeps sending e-mails asking me to join). And most blogs, including this one, are self-indugent and full-of-crap.

However, I've missed writing it. I was active on the community for a while and logged on almost daily. I didn't live on it like some people seem to, but I was still… Continue

Kamikaze Firewater

If you read this and you are one of my Friends or Faves on Netflix, I am asking for your help.

I currently have a reviewer ranking of 34, and it hovers around that point each week. My goal was to break into the top 100, and I'm satisfied with the achievement. But it saddens me when I read notes from others begging for "Helpfuls" or the near suicidal rants about people who click on "Not Helpfuls."

It's really not that important.

So, I've set a new goal for myself. Without stopping my review wr… Continue

Why I Like Kevin Smith

First of all, I don't feel that Kevin Smith needs an apologist of any kind. He has been very successful in his chosen career. He has been very fortunate---or "lucky" as the envious prefer---but he has manufactured a lot of his good fortune through persistence and talent.

His first film, Clerks, was shot on a shoestring budget on b&w stock because it was cheaper. Smith wrote the screenplay, directed and played Silent Bob in the movie. The story of how this film was shot and marketed a… Continue

Crying Over Spoiled Film

Lately, as a lark, I began posting one-sentence spoilers in a discussion thread denouncing reviewers who use "spoilers" in their reviews. Okay, admittedly not nice, but fun, and I've been careful not to use any current movies. Although I was surprised that one community member didn't want to know which movie "Rosebud was the name of his sled" referred to.

Really, is this person ever going to watch Citizen Kane? I think not.

Another member posted "Soylent Green is people," which upset someone e… Continue

Ah, I see. I've been to Arkansas many times. I've never been to SC though.

Have a great holiday!

Ya, I like it here. I forget how long Garth has lived here, but it's been a while now. Where are you from?

Yes, it's on Route 66. It is the birthplace of Will Rogers, but it's not the biggest town. I'm guessing something here caught your attention for you to remember it? :)

It was, yes. In 2006 Anheiser-Busch purchased Rolling Rock beer and moved the production to their NJ plant. That same plant still makes beer, though, under a different name. Everyone seems to know Latrobe for something different. That was the first time someone remembered it for the beer plant.
