Hi,
I know it is kind of late, but thanks for joining The Office! If you know anyone else that might enjoy it as well, please feel free to invite them.
Sorry I have been absent for the site for a while. I wanted to extend to you a long overdue welcome to the Wormhole! It’s nice to see that the SCI-FI Forum is thriving and with so many new members! I wanted to let you know that we are adding new features – a SCI-FI Portal that will take members to other groups on this site. I’d love to hear any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas you might have to improve the Wormhole or the Portal :)
My wife and I just watched BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS for like the 20th time and now I'm reading the novella once again. Truman Capote is one of my favorite writers. Tonight is TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD because it's been a few years since the disc made its way into my DVD player. I just reviewed CONTROL about Ian Curtis of Joy Division which was very good. Viddy well!
I've seen THE DOOM GENERATION and TOTALLY F***ED UP but it seems like NOWHERE is not released yet on DVD. Great stuff. I saw MYSTERIOUS SKIN a few years ago which led me to his other films.
I understand. I read all the terrible reviews from Cannes (and beyond) but had to make up my own mind. For a recent science fiction gem, I would recommend CHILDREN OF MEN. A little known classic SF film I just re-watched is A BOY AND HIS DOG..funny and apocalyptical!
Have you seen SOUTHLAND TALES? I wrote a review on the NF site and called it a beautiful failure...meaning it was very bad but Kelly had the balls to make it! Reminded me of THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI meets REPO MAN spiced with the novel FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID. It had all the right influences but they were mish-mashed together without any empathetic character development.
Hi Greyrobe, see you like science-fiction. Not many good one in the last few years but DONNIE DARKO was excellent! Reminded me of the classic film HARVEY as imagined by Philip K Dick.
