Thanks for being my newest friend. I've been out of state; so, I apologize for having not accepted your sweet invitation to become friends earlier. You have a blessed day.
Oh no.. I wish I'd lived in your town - we could've started a Icelandic-Japanese Friendship Club!
Things were pretty similar at my school, though - I learned pretty quickly to shut up about my year in Japan. I would have liked to keep up with my Japanese, but unfortunately there was no way to learn it in Iceland back then. Now I've forgotten almost all of it! Boo-hoo.. :(
We were there for a year - and I was not a happy camper when we had to leave. My brother had by that point decided that he wanted to be Japanese when he grew up!
You know, I don't really recall so much it being so cold there, but I remember the big monsoon rains! It would rain all day, then a small break came, and all the housewives would run to the store, buy what they needed and run back again. I remember my mom charging down the road to the store with the other ladies in the neighborhood. We went to Noboribetsu, among other places, and saw the monkeys bathing in the hot springs, which was pretty amazing. Fortunately my dad had to be traveling between Niigata, Yokohama and Muroran quite frequently, and we got to tag along most of the time. That way we got to see different corners of Japan. It is a gorgeous place, and the people were incredibly friendly - my brother and I were quite the spoiled brats when we went back home to Iceland again.
Oh, how nice!! My family lived in Japan (Muroran, on Hokkaido) for a year when I was a kid, and I still get all nostalgic about it. I absolutely loved it. I've been a big fan of all things Japanese ever since. I've been watching a lot of Japanese movies since I started renting movies on Netflix, gives me flashbacks of being a happy Hokkaido kid!
Hi Pam, welcome! I love your avatar, how incredibly cute! I snuck off & saw that you've been watching Ozu movies - I'm a big fan of his. I even bought myself a 6-movie set for my birthday one year - yeah, I'm a spoiled brat! :-)
Hi PAM, is that your bird??? Is that a real bird??? LOL
Yeah, my newfie mutt is one of my babies, have a 5 year old son too!
I am still a newbie when it comes to classics. I am a fan of foreign and indie films. I am looking forward to finding out your favorite movies once you get your page all fixed up. In the mean time, have a good Thanksgiving!!!
