Yeah, I was in San Francisco last week for work, but without a car. I had done a little research and was going to try and make it to the San Jose area, but I didn't a totally free and clear day, so it was a no-go. It's for sure a committment!
I've found a theatre in NJ that shows Tamil stuff, but since I don't have a car here either, it's the same problem... Do I really want to spend 1 1/2 hours each way just getting there? Only for Kamal Hassan or Surya at this point. ;o)
Hi PrahaJess,
I'm pretty new to the groups/blogs, so I don't know anyone yet. Nice to meet you! Yup, I've noticed your reviews on a lot of movies I've seen and want to see. I dig your music playlist! I've been getting a lot of movie soundtracks myself, not the Sillunu Oro Kadhal yet though. NY Nagaram sounds good, I didn't really notice it in the movie because I was so preoccupied trying to figure out what city they had filmed the pict'n in since it obviously wasn't NYC.
With my meandering through the Netflix catalogue of Indian movies, I've been watching a lot of Tamil stuff and a bit of Telugu lately. Surya is always a blast... And certainly easy on the eyes.
I'm going to try and catch Luck by Chance this week; I've found a theatre that's easy to get to in NYC, so I'm looking forward to finally watching things as they were intended.
Drop a line on what you're enjoying, it's nice to have a convo with folks that like these movies as much as I do. My friends and family humor me, but I can't push it; they don't see the charms of the idiom. Which I just don't get...
Cheers,
Kate
Yes, I did. I don't like it as much as I like Veer-Zaara, but I still appreciate the underlying message about tolerance and respect of others. Did you have a nice holiday? Ha ha ha... your relatives don't care for Bollywood huh? My Hubby doesn't like it either.
Hi Prahajess, hope you're having a good holiday season. I saw a modern Bollywood on Instant Watch the other night called My Faraway Bride... oh well, it was okay but not much of a story. I think I need to bump up Jodha Akbar to the top of my queue.
Does anyone know a movie about a tax collector who goes to audit a couple in New Mexico and ends up staying with them because he likes their lifestyle?
Oh, I meant to tell you I watched Salaam Bombay a few days ago, good stuff. I don't think it can be called Bollywood, but it is a wonderful Mira Nair film. Seen it?
Prahajess, hi. My friend Fleetusa told me to look you up, so here I am. I am fairly new to the Bollywood genre, thanks to Fleet, he has been "bringing me up to speed". I am a huge foreign films fan.
Per Fleet suggestion, I have recently watched Veer-Zaara, and like it. I love movies with political undertone. I have seen Chak De India, and Shah Rhuk Khan is growing on me.
