About Me:
For Netflix ranking, I began at around 1,200 and as of Nov. 28 (2007) was 233. [Nov. 29: 183] [Dec. 6: 126] [Dec. 13: 112] [Dec. 20: 110] [Dec. 27: 72] [Jan. 3: 53] [Jan. 10: 54] [Jan. 17: 39] [Jan. 31: 22] [Feb. 7: 16] [Feb. 21: 13] [Feb. 28: 14] [Mar. 6: 15] [Apr. 7: 14] [Apr. 14: 12] [Apr. 28: 11] [May 5: 10] [Jul. 10: 9] [Jul. 22: 10] [Aug. 5: 9] [Aug. 12: 10] [Aug. 19: 9] [Aug. 26: 7] [Sep. 2: 8] [Sep. 9: 7] [Sep. 16: 16] [Sep. 23: 15] [Sep. 30: 16] [Oct. 20: 6] [Nov. 10: 7] [Feb. 9: 8] [Feb. 16: 7] [Mar. 30: 6] [Apr. 6: 7] [Apr. 27: 13] [May 4: 12] [Sep. 7: 11] [Sep. 14: 10] [Sep. 28: 9] [Oct. 5: 10] [Oct. 12: 9] [Nov. 1: 8] [Nov. 9: 9] [Nov. 16: 10] [Nov. 23: 9] [Nov. 30: 8] [Dec. 7: 9]

My secondary profile, which has been largely inactive but holds 10 part-2-of-2 reviews, has held for months at 135,000-something but changed this week in 2009. [Oct. 21: 126,216] [Nov. 9: 122,892] [Nov. 16: 116,096] [Nov. 23: 123,218] [Nov. 30: 124,011] [Dec. 7: 125,050]

Someone once commented on my movie blog Moviette "You sure watch a lot of movies." The real question is, Is that statement one of approval or disapproval? Is the anonymous kibbitzer being envious or critical? Is s/he saying "I wish I could watch that many movies" or "You are watching too many movies"? And if the latter, what gives that person the right to judge (much less assume when in my lifetime I have watched a movie vs. when in my lifetime I have reviewed it)? In the end I just responded "I sleep less than most people."

Midnight Cowboy finally available

After years on the Save lists, Midnight Cowboy has finally become an Add title.

Save titles turned Add titles indeed

My most recent research and experience (in the past two days) is underlining how fluid the Save/Add status of movies really is with Netflix. My Save-only queue on Monday morning had a dozen titles turned Add -- so I pulled them out, moved them elsewhere, and started a new weekly list series for Save titles turned Add titles. By the time I was done, 12 of the 24 assigned to the list had reverted to Save titles (when viewed from my main profile)! I've also seen evidence that whether a title (which… Continue

Release/Availability information request

I spoke with Customer Service today and also just responded to their followup customer-satisfaction survey with this communique:

A week or two ago you removed the movie page's "Release date unknown, availability date unknown" information line (that specified whether DVDs were prerelease or postrelease even if you didn't know their release or availability date) and replaced it with a "DVD (unknown date)" info snippet (that gives no longer gives any clue as to whether a DVD has been released or n… Continue

My Save lists now total 4,360 movies

The Save title lists under my profile now contain 4,358 unique movies that are either not yet on DVD (prerelease) esp. if still in the theatres as well as on DVD (postrelease) but in constrained supply at Netflix. Use my Save lists (http://tiny.cc/robolists) to preview 750 new movies from 2006-2010 that are yet to reach the theatres or be released on DVD. I list them by year (from 2006-2010) and by 16 genres (from Action to Thriller). Enjoy!

My Save-only queue scheme to get Save titles

My Save-only queue scheme is hard to understand and Netflix just did away with how it denotes prerelease and postrelease DVDs on the movie page (Release vs. Availability dates) but that's another story.

My scheme is simple in theory: A Save title is not an Add title nor is it an Unavailable title -- so some copies must be available -- just in constrained quantities insufficient to meet demand (assuming the DVD has been released in the first place). Also, no one will get a Save title that has be… Continue

Thank you for the invite! I've always enjoyed your expansive lists on Netflix. They show an incredible amount of work and dedication on your part. I've recently started working on lists of my own, just so I have something to contribute to the community. It makes me appreciate what you do all the more!

Thanks (for the compliments on my reviews). I haven't written one in ages... perhaps I'll get back into it and work up to your 20 minimum? :)

Hello! I appreciate all the work you do on Netflix, and I'm contacting you because I'm certain that you can help me out. I've tried searching around a bit, but to no avail have I been able to find the answer I'm looking for.
What I ask you is this: Is there any way I can safely edit my Netflix lists without having to worry about losing titles every time I save after I've removed some?

I am still listed at 34,228. This guy is ranked 20,000 places ahead of me and he has 3 reviews, no lists and 8 friends and favorites. I have 197 reviews, most of them rated favorably, 10 lists, 14 friends and 10 fans (some are on both lists). I just don't get what the criteria could be. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it and I will continue to post my thoughts, but I do like the positive feedback, seeing my ranking climb.
